“Lovely bistro bar food!”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

My wife and I enjoyed a recent visit to this lovely pub/ restaurant on the sea front of Napier city. The building is the former Masonic hotel, an iconic Art Deco building from the 1930's. The food was fresh and of a very good standard for this bistro style establishment. A nice atmosphere and with a nostalgic feel. Lots of fantastic Art Deco touches inside and outside the building. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick and reasonably priced meal or drink to call in when visiting Napier.

Hello Peter C, thank for your wonderful review.
The good news for us all is that the Masonic Hotel is certainly not former, we have recently renovated this beautiful building and it is now basking in its former glory. With 42 rooms of which all will be renovate by the end of this winter, The Art Deco Masonic Hotel is now again one Napier's newest hotels in the most perfect location.

“good times”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Have been here a few times for drinks and a quick bite and always enjoyed it cause it's a great bar atmosphere. But just had our vintage team dinner there and it was awesome. Chef gave 15 of us an amazing meal, staff was so cool and the place was vibrant and buzzing. We had a blast. Strongly recommend for a big dinner with friends or just to drop in for a drink and a quick bite.

“Great stop for Brunch”

Enjoyed fabulous view of Marine Parade as we sat eating brunch. Our order took a long time to come but it was definitely worth the wait. Delicious. Friendly service.

“Nice meals - service was lacking”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

When we went the menu had just changed and we were all struggling with it. I felt like a salad but no salads on the menu. it was all a bit eccentric. I choose the salmon and shrimp chili small dish and my husband a pizza. It took forever to get a waiter to take our order and that was the trend during the meal. They were friendly but just not attentive. The meals did taste great and I like the building and the atmosphere and location. Just not a real fan of the new menu and the lack of attention of the staff all though there were plenty waiters walking around.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to post your second review of Emporium. We had just changed to our autumn menu when you visited so apologies for the lack of salad. Please do not hesitate to ask us do make something for you.
Im terribly sorry you felt the service not attentive this time, as you know we pride ourselves on our service being both friendly and attentive, and as you can see from all our other reviews and from when you visited last time we are very consistent in providing this.
I hope next time you visit you will make yourself known to one of our managers and we make sure you are very well looked after.

“Nice small plates”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Great variety of small plates ($15 each) which were all delicious. The pulled pork tacos were slightly cold though. Would definitely go back. Cosy atmosphere and great variety of food. Wine list pretty good though could do with more wines by the glass.

Hello, thank you for your recent review.
I am thrilled to hear you enjoyed your visit and found our sharing plates are great way to eat. Thank you for letting us know about the slightly cold pulled pork taco's we will keep an eye on that, they are certainly one of our most popular dishes.
With our showcase wines which we change each month we currently have 29 wines available by the glass, we also offer all of these wines in a 1/2 litre carafe for when one glass just isn't enough.
We hope to see you again soon.
