“Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Napier!”
Reviewed 6 January 2012

We have stayed here three times now and would't stay anywhere else in napier. Each time we've stayed we have booked the largest double, which has beautiful seaviews but it is still very reasonably priced. The whole property is lovely.
The first time we stayed Neil was our host, and the second two times it has been Catherine one of the owners. Everytime we have had huge amounts of help with finding the best restaurants, things to do etc, and they have been booked for us. They'll also often turn your car around for you on their very steep narrow drive- I have no idea how they do it! Breakfast is lovely with a good range of things to eat. In summer you can eat out on the balcony overlooking the ocean.
The only people perhaps wouldn't recommend the B+B to would be those with limited mobility, as there are a far few steps to walk up the get to it from the beach front.

Had a wonderful 2 night break. Catherine and Evert are so friendly and incredibly helpful without being overbearing. From booking our wine tour with vinny (excellent), dropping us off as mission winery for a lovely dinner and putting us in touch with a local mechanic!
Our room was very elegant and had lovely views and a huge comfy bed. Living area very stylish and plush with a great terrace. Continental breakfast was lovely. Overall probably the best B&B we have stayed in.

My husband and I stayed here while visiting Napier - the accommodations were great - we were upstairs, and the living room area adjacent to our room made it feel like we had our own apartment - with lovely views from the balcony. Our hosts Catherine and Evert were gracious and accommodating (they even picked us up from the airport, and dropped us off at the Intercity train stattion for our next connection), with many suggestions for us during our visit. They even arranged a wine tour for us of some Hawke's Bay wineries, which was right-out fabulous, and we had a great time, and bought a bunch of wine as a result. Great breakfasts too. The location is perfect and we were in walking distance to everything - shops, restaurants, the beach. My husband went on runs along Marine Parade every morning while we were there.

I would like to return to Napier at some point, and when I do, I will definitely stay here again. I recommend this place highly to anyone wishing to visit the Art Deco city of New Zealand, as well as have some great wines while here!

We stayed here in February. Lovely, light, large room looking over the main road onto the sea. Very quiet despite the road (and I'm a light sleeper). Lovely breakfast in another large, light room downstairs. The owner, Catherine, is energetic, friendly and helpful (she even turned our car round for us in their narrow street!). It's just a few minutes' stroll from the centre of town. Ideal place to stay in this wonderful, unique, Art Deco town.

From the moment we phoned to the time we left we felt special. We were warmly welcomed and offered practical and useful information without being overwhelmed. Our host was friendly and interested in us. She did everything possible to make our stay relevant and enjoyable. The accommodation was spacious and tastefully decorated to a very high standard. The breakfast served on the terrace overlooking the seafront was delicious. Each morning we watched the sun rise over the ocean from our luxurious bed. Access to town was great and each night we walked there to enjoy the hospitality that Napier has to offer.
We would return to this B&B is we ever visit Napier again. We highly recommend this special B&B.

We arrived fairly early in the afternoon from Taupo, and were warmly welcomed by Catherine. We stayed two nights but were the only guests the first night, and had the entire upper floor to ourselves. It's a home with real character, having been built over 100 years ago but survived the 1931 quake and has since been lovingly restored. It sits on Bluff Hill above the town, but with an easy flight of steps down to sea level and just a few minutes walk into central Napier. Catherine's helpfulness and local knowledge were invaluable in planning our self-drive tour of some of the Hawkes Bay wineries.

We had breakfast, in the late summer sun, on the terrace at the lower level, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There was really only one negative - that we couldn't stay longer.

We got there at the end of a rainy day, and our host will tell you to bring anything for the 4 seasons, should you come in NZ :-) Walking distance to city center, this quiet and cosy place is just so nice ! Although our bathroom was not in our bedroom, the latter was just so nice with an astonishing sea view ! Not talking about the breakfast which was just amazing: you'll have it on the balcony looking over the sea side ! We loved it !
