Nice place to spend a couple of hours and the food is wonderful. But the staff are always changing and so the coffee seems to suffer. The couple of stayer staff are just lovely :)

“Wonderful Atmosphere”
Reviewed 21 January 2012

This is a great restaurant to relax and have a coffee and great food with friends. It is set in a garden centre and there are gift shops to tempt. Rugs are provided for chilly days and the decor is amazing.

“A lovely spot”
Reviewed 7 January 2012

The Wild Rose Café is located in a lovely spot under some magnificent old elm trees, in the middle of a garden centre. The food features lots of delicious home baked goodies, and I loved the lemon curd muffin I had. The coffee was good too.

The location and the food should be a recipe for success, but I felt there were some things that really detracted from these. The first was the service, which seemed oddly flustered, even though there were plenty of staff to serve the number of customers in the café at the time. I wondered if there were some temporary inexperienced staff on duty, it being the holidays. Pointing out the cutlery table at the time I ordered rather than when the food was delivered would have been helpful. Also the coffee was served in jarringly modern cups which clashed with the floral china the cakes were served on, and didn’t fit in with old-fashioned romantic ambience the café seemed to be aiming for.

Still, the café is in an area where there are not a lot of good cafes, and could be worth checking out. Don’t go at a busy time though.

“Nice but......”
Reviewed 4 November 2011

I have made several visits to the Wild Roses Cafe, on my own and also with friends. Whereas it is a lovely setting, I think they need to protect the display of their food a bit better from flies etc and make a conscious effort to clean the water glasses. Every time I go to get a glass of water, and this has happened on all the occasions I have been, all the glasses have lipstick on them, which is quite disgusting considering they have a lot of glasses to choose from, it doesn't take much to wash a glass....properly. The chocolate brownie was dry and also the staff were spraying RAID around the cakes that were on display..... a real put off. I won't rush back.....they also need to reinvent their menu.

“great little lunchtime hideout”
Reviewed 31 October 2011

The food here is small but tasty, the situation is lovely. It is set in a garden centre, but really the garden centre has become secondry as the cafe has over run the gardens completely. This is a lovely venue but weather dependant as most tables are outdoors. They specialise in little yummy cakes and desserts with small savoury foods available as well. The tableware is all delicate little china cups and dishes. It really does have a garden party feel. Be prepard to wait though as it gets very hectic at lunchtimes.
