We went here for Sunday lunch and made a booking for 6 of us for 12:30.
When we arrived we were told our table number but not actually shown where it was. The menus took about 10minutes to arrive and when we asked to order drinks the waitress said she would come back, so more waiting. The 6 of us shared a winemakers platter and garlic bread, which were both very nice and came out in good time after ordering them, great selection of local produce and cheeses.
Our mains came out not long after we had finished the platter. Overall we weren't very impressed with the food, the steak was overdone, chicken very dry and scallops and prawns very tough. The waitress didn't come back at all through out the meal to check on us so I had to go through the restaurant to get more drinks. One thing we noticed was that the wait staff all wore different clothes from short crop tops to green jeans, a little to casual for a winery restaurant.
Overall we were glad we went and tried it out but if you are after a nice restaurant to relax in all afternoon crab farm would not be my choice.

Lovely food, quirky cosy inviting setting. A wonderful place to relax with friends fro some lovely well presented food. The wine of course, made on the premises, is also excellent. Love it

our first interaction with the local cumara (sweet potato)
It's a very 'at ease' location, very good food and nice wine. If you want to visit a winery on your way from Napier to Taupo (or back) this is a well worth suggestion!

Went there to find a very hip trendy young crowd, great atmosphere, well kept secret. Fair prices and worth a visit for a nite under the stars.

We had lunch at Crab Farm winery last year while in Napier and we enjoyed it so much we decided to go back this year. We did not regret our choice at all. We were originally seated inside but as it was a beautiful day we asked if we could be seated outside. This was no problem at all for the staff who had us set up at a table outside very quickly and without complaint. The food was lovely - I had the fish of the day which was groper and my partner had the scallops and prawns. The meals were a decent size, beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were great and were happy to leave us to enjoy our wine in the sun without feeling the need to interrupt us every few minutes. When we wanted something the service was quick and efficient. We had a lovely relaxed afternoon at Crab Farm and would definitely recommend it.
