Last weekend we went on a wine tour with Packard Promenades ~ http://www.packardpromenades.co.nz/ ~ a gift from our son. What a memorable experience. The tour starts with an explanation of Napier's history and the effects of the 1931 earthquake. Graham's knowledge of the area and professionalism throughout add to the experience as you are driven around between vineyards in his beautiful 1939 Packard. Included in the tour was lunch - a food platter and bottle of wine of our choice from the last vineyard we visited. A four hour tour - no rush - relaxed and informative. Absolutely exceptional! We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend to anyone.

Introduced via the Art Deco Trust during our two day stay in Napier.
We are Deco fans from the UK so having seen all the buildings, heard a lot of history we completed the Napier experience with a drive in this vintage car and experienced further commentary about our surroundings from Graham, who is it could be argued is an attraction of his own.
If you want to look "outside the square" of Napier - Graham is you man.

This is an iconic way to see an iconic city!!
The beautiful Packard picked me up from the cruise ship, and we drove along the stunning foreshore. The guide described the history of the Hawkes Bay and Napier areas.
I was taken into the beautiful theatre, then through the city to the historic Tobacco factory.
There were plenty of photo opportunities, but we also gave others the chance to photograph us.
The car stands out and certainly draws attention.
My guide Teresa was very friendly and knowledgeable.
The tour was straight forward to book via email from Australia.
Truly a memorable tour.

This is quite simply THE BEST way to tour around the Art Deco city of Napier. The car that you tour around in is magnificent and our guide Graham was incredibly knowledgable. Graham was very generous with his time (the tour went for 95 minutes) and made the tour a real highlight of our stay. Highlights include getting access to areas not normally open to the public, seeing commercial, public and residential examples of the architecture and most importantly getting a highly personalized look at the city through the eyes of someone who is passionate about this unique city. An absolute must. Yes there are other (cheaper) tours available, but ours was the only one were people were taking pictures of us - or rather the car we were touring around in - along with the fabulous buildings!

We were in Napier on a cruise ship and wanted to do something away from the norm. We went to the "iSite" which is the city's information center, and truly lucked into meeting Graham Holley of Art Deco Vintage Car Tours (Packard Promenades). He took four of us on a several hour tour of the wineries in Hawkes Bay - in his 1937 Packard. What a fun day we had. Graham knows everything about the area and is a great tour guide! We visited three wineries - Graham called them in advance and we were thrilled with each. I can't rave enough about what a great time we had. Graham is a commercial pilot by profession and arranges his flight schedule to accommodate cruise ships. You can reach him at www.packardpromenades.co.nz
