Scenic Hotel Te Pania
Ranked #7 of 46 Hotels in Napier
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Hotel is open 24/7 which was perfect for our late arrival at midnight having driven down from Auckland. Room was very comfortable and spacious.
A few noises that kept us awake for a little while - noisy fridge in the room and bathroom fan that woudnt turn off, but all in all a very pleasant stay.
Great location facing the waterfront and across the road from the spa.
Didnt eat at the hotel - theres a lovely cafe a few minutes walk away called Ujazi which serves amazing breakfasts.
Napier is very quiet in winter - once the shops closed there seemed to be no one else around in Napier. We are at the Emporium (Masonic Hotel bar & restaurant) which was pleasant enough.

Room Tip: Request a high floor - you can see over the tall trees then and see the sea.

We arrived in Napier during a bit of a downpour and had just pulled up to check where we were when we realised we had actually pulled up right in front of our hotel - how lucky was that! We walked across, checked in and found out how to access the car park which is located behind the hotel.
The room was large with fantastic sea views and a very comfy bed. The bathroom was nice with good quality products.
On our second day the manageress rang up and asked if we would mind moving to another floor as there was a problem with the emergency lighting. We were in the process of packing when she rang back to say the problem had been fixed and we didn't need to move after all. To apologize for any inconvenience caused she sent up a lovely box of chocolates with a card - nice touch.
The hotel is just a short walk from all the main sights and restaurants. Would definitely recommend.

Over all a very nice place to stay, lovely sea views, very relaxing. Would stay again, staff helpful and friendly. In the heart of the city walking distance to some great restaurants if you are a foodie.

Room Tip: all rooms have sea views.

This was a wonderful waterfront hotel within easy walking distance of the main street of Napier. We enjoyed one of the best beds we've ever slept on and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only staying for one night on a "road trip" we actually ate at a wonderful little Indian restaurant around the corner (the smell dragged us in!!). We absolutely loved the Wine experience centre which is also just 5 mins walk from the hotel. Couldn't have asked for a more perfectly located and staffed hotel.

First, the location is excellent - easy walking distance to the shops and the amazing Pacifica restaurant. Right over the road from the beach, all rooms look out towards the sea. The rooms were very clean, fantastic beds, and modern. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant, but it was really good. There was not a huge range (such as you would get in a five star city hotel) but what was there was excellent.
But more importantly than that, the staff were really good, especially the breakfast staff. There were fab smoothies in the morning on Saturday - but none on Sunday. I was told that they only do them some days. I said how nice they had been. The manager then said he would see what he could do, and came back with another smoothie...its things like that which mean I will rave about this property and return with my family rather than my colleagues. Also, it is so nice having toast in proper toast racks, brought to your table rather than conveyor belts you use yourself.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the ends of the corridors will be quieter

It was just a quick nights stay as we were there on business. The house bar even though is small and in reception, has welcoming couches which we took advantage of for a pre dinner drink. Great service, and prompt. The bed was comfy and I had a great nights sleep. Over all a perfect location for a business stay!

The hotel is curved in a curve to give all rooms a view. We were on the 6th floor and it is very relaxing to be able to look across the sea and have the tree lights outside the window at night. Reminded us of looking from the window in K.L. to the Petronis Towers (without the dense city). Graet position to be able to walk all of the main city and close to Ahirirri to eat. Good direct road access to Taradale (to buy our European made shoes) and to Hastings (Stortford Lodge ) to buy our Lotto tickets. Our car had a flat battery on our morning before leaving. No trouble the lady at the desk organised help from a staff member and we were away. Thank you!!!
Will definately be staying there on our next vivit to Napier.

Room Tip: It is worth paying the extra for the upper floors.
