Spent 3 night with my family and friends at Napier. I picked this place as I had some wonderful experience at the same motel 13 years ago.

The motel was well equipped, except for air conditioning. It was one of the hottest days in summer and we asked for a fan in the room and the host had none. We ended up buying some at the supermarket ourselves.

The units are very clean and superb kitchen facilities, having the spa in the room is a big plus.

The stay would have been a perfect one if our host didn't storm into our room, yelling at us in front of 4 little kids, threatening to evict us, for not parking correctly. The parking lines are so light that you can hardly see them, and some spots are just impossible to park. Our group of 11 are expected to turn up in only 2 cars. We ended up parking one of our cars on the main road where cars are travelling at speed all day long.

Giving this bad experience I don't think I'll ever come back again, unless there is a change of ownership.

Room Tip: In summer, ask for a room with air conditioning.

We have stayed here three times now, and will continue to go back when our travels take us to the Hawkes Bay. The units are clean and modern and excellent value for money. Even though the motel is on a busy road there is no traffic noise. Our studio unit had a spa bath in it, this time, and this was at no extra charge, whereas, we have had to pay extra for that facility in other motels. The shops and restaurants are a distance away, but no problem with a car, and there is a bus stop nearby.

Room Tip: The downstairs units are easier for folk who find it hard to carry luggage any distance, and our uni...

Very clean and tidy. On a major road but noise wasn't a problem. Easy to find no matter wich direction you come from. Easy check in with considerate hosts. Great size bathroom with a powerful shower. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was magic.

We stayed this past weekend at the house beside the Motor Lodge. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 toilets, lounge, kitchen and dining room. The property sleeps 12. One king bed, 3 single beds in each of the other 2 bedrooms and 2 single beds and a sofa bed in the lounge.
The main bedroom had TV as did the lounge. No Sky however. Kitchen had oven, large fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Plenty of dishes, glasses and cultery.
We found the property clean and tidy and with all we needed towels and toiletries replenished daily. Was very clean and tidy.
The property is an older bungalow with bbq area, backyard, parking offstreet and own entrance way.
We had a great time and would definitely book again if we are down that way

The room was spacious, warm in the winter months with a heat pump, not that we need that on all the time to stay warm. The bed was comfy and made for a great sleep in. Overall it was a great stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was well maintained and very clean. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: The corner room was a great size and wasn't your usual rectangle hotel room type.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, accompanied by our adult daughter in a two bedroom apartment. The lounge area, bedrooms and bathroom were all spacious, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable, as were the settees in the lounge area. The apartment had double glazed windows, so road noise was practically non-existent. The kitchenette was well laid out and surprisingly well equipped. The reception staff were cheerful, efficient and very helpful. WI-FI was free for the duration of our stay. We would definitely recommend the motel and use it again. It was superb value for money.

Even though the Deco City Motel is on the main road the heavy drapes and the absence of traffic (Napier goes to sleep after ten o'clock on a week night) meant that I had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was on time and good value.
