I recently dined here with my family and as there aren't many options for dining on a Monday evening in Hawke's Bay we were pleased to come here. I have to say the food could not be faulted however, this became a distant memory by the service and overall experience. Light bulbs required replacing, some of the restaurant was in darkness (lights switched off) very monotonous and overly casual staff, and profanity on a blackboard visible to diners. A diner in our group had a cracked glass and when a new one was requested it was simply removed and returned without apology or regretful utterance. I don't want to be petty but the decor and ambiance could be improved without huge cost. To sum up, great food was overshadowed by poor, dullard service and unfortunate atmosphere that is still reminiscent of a Cobb & Co that has long checked out.

Was staying at the Quality Inn so nice and easy to charge back to my room

Having been to Paris several times and enjoyed proper continental breakfasts we have often since yearned for decent croissant and pain au chocolat. At last, here is a place that serves excellent breakfast pastries. Thank goodness for the French chef in this establishment who gets them shipped in.
Sitting outside the bistro on a sunny morning, enjoying good coffee and delicious croissant, brought back many happy memories of our times spent in Parisienne cafes.
A real treat

We visited this Bistro today with a family group, and sat in the family room which had paper on the tables with crayons for the kids (which of course they loved) and a pirate themed separate play room. We all really enjoyed our meals and the coffees were perfecto.

Called in for breakfast and were surprised to find this restaurant empty.
The food was fine and the coffee strong but not overbearing. Be sure to try their home made jam on your toast or croissant.
The waitress was very pleasant and served us with great efficiency.
Certainly worth a visit.
