My partner, myself and a friend rented the suit. This is a really special place, with a great breakfast and an even better wine and cheese the night before. The room had a great porch overlooking a vineyard. Gardens and roses were stunning and our hosts were great. Only trade off is that it's 15 minutes or so out of town, but it's worth it for the scenery.

Such a blissful place! Set in the most beautiful gardens and only 10mins from Napier, wish could have stayed longer. Hosts Jes and Eileen could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Beautiful rooms with wonderful views and even private balcony. And the Breakfasts! To die for. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in the area.

This was literally the best B&B we stayed in during our trip to NZ. Warm hosts, gorgeous house, stellar location just outside of Hawke's Bay, and the grounds surrounding the house are to die for with views of vineyards and a magical garden. The breakfast was exquisite and all home-made. We were even given a menu to select breakfast items from. We have nothing but positive things to say about this B&B!

Room Tip: Zinfandel room was beautiful and had a stunning view

We were delighted with our accommodation at Esk Valley Lodge and the warm hospitality from our hosts. They were very warm, friendly and helpful with planning a wine tour for us. The room was huge, clean and had an amazing view. An overall very enjoyable stay. Thank you!

Only stayed one night on a busy trip to New Zealand - wished we could have stayed longer! The Sauvingnon Room is large, well appointed, has a small balcony and has an excellent view of the vineyards.Breakfast was also excellent. The before dinner wine and cheese and chat with the owners/hosts was the perfect way to prepare for dinner at a nearby winery.

Absolutely no hesitation in recommending Esk Valley Lodge and in particular the Sauvingnon Room to anyone wishing to visit the Napier area.

Our Semillon Room was very spacious in a self contained area in this characterful house. We had a good large bathroom with separate loo and separate shower and fluffy towels. The bed was extremely comfortable and smashing linen.

The Lodge is set in a small vineyard and is in a peaceful location about fifteen minutes out of downtown Napier.

On arrival we were offered wine and cheese. After a long day I said 'could I please have a cup of tea?'. I had my tea, but I think (in a dry humoured way) Jes had me down as an English wimp from then on! There wasn't a great deal of advice on local restaurants and we had the feeling that Jes in particular had been at the B&B thing a while and if he liked you that was OK, but if he didn't take to you, he certainly wasn't rude, but didn't go out of his way for you either. He cooks breakfast to order and that was a pretty standard fare, nothing particularly special.

I stayed in the lovely Esk Valley Lodge as part of a family group of 5 adults - we stayed in a twin room, and the double room with single annexe. The rooms were very clean and pleasantly stylish - not in the slightest bit chintzy - and the bathrooms were immaculate with lovely towels.

Location is lovely and rural - still just in the hills before the plains around Napier. Most pleasant views from the rooms we were in; out onto the kitchen garden and orchards, or onto lovely gardens and vines. It was a 10 minute drive to Napier for dinner options - although on our second night the owners recommended a restaurant/winery just 2 km away which was superb.

The owners were super friendly and welcoming as well as being very helpful in assisting us in planning our meals and visits.

Special mention must go to the breakfasts - not just your ordinary hearty B&B breakfast - super tasty and plentiful breakfasts, some choices of which I would go so far as to say were bordering on gourmet standard and quality.
