We decided to stay at Esk Valley Lodge which is about 10 - 15 minutes from Napier because we preferred to stay in the country and the location of a B and B by a vineyard really appealed to us.
Our accomodation - the sauvignon suite was very spacious and we had a balcony overlooking the garden and vineyard which was lovely. Every consideration had been given to our comfort and our hosts were extremely helpful and friendly without being intrusive.
We stayed for two nights and each evening were welcomed back to our accomodation with the offer of wine, nibbles and chat about our day. The breakfasts were excellent and it was lovely being offered tasty dishes with ingredients direct from the beautiful garden.
We both felt that it was almost a shame that we spent most of our time exploring the surrounding area when we were staying in such an idyllic location
We were given helpful advice about how to make the most of our time in Napier and useful suggestions about our continuing journey in the north and south island.
