Edgewater is one of the many motels along Marine Parade, about 750m walk to city centre, and 500m in the other direction to the aquarium.

It doesn't necessarily boast the same facilities or room sizes as some of the others, but we got a fantastic price, only $99, and didn't even need to pre-pay (which seems very common thesedays if you're getting a great rate). As promised the room was upstairs with a sea view and a small balcony.

Room wasn't huge but wasn't tiny, good sized flat screen TV, everything was clean and working which is great. I don't need fancy stuff, just stuff that does what it should. Fridge and microwave, plus of course basic tea & coffee and crockery & glasses. Can't remember whether there was a toaster or not.

Downsides would be that it was a double bed rather than queen, the balcony isn't that big and is shared with the room next door, no cooking facility other than the microwave, and perhaps most importantly in winter or summer, seems there wasn't aircon. We stayed in spring so that wasn't a problem, and the other things weren't an issue for us and definitely not an issue at the price.

Room Tip: Any upstairs room!

Only stayed the one night but it was excellent. Clean comfortable room with free WIFI and a view of the beach. The bathroom was lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly. Walking distance to the shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Second floor facing marine parade gives a view of the beach.

It is really a convenient spot on the beach and closer to shopping areas.
Rooms are tidy and compact. Enough space to move arround. Car parks located just in front of your rooms. Napier is a beautiful town in the south east coast of New Zealand .
Morning and evening you can go for walk on the white sand beach.

Stayed 3 nights in No 7 which was a two bedroom apartment with full kitchen, lounge dining area and deck looking out over Marine Parade to the ocean. Booking was easy and the proprietor phoned me back to confirm. Good off street parking although it needs a bit of care as space is tight. Apartment well set up and with extras such as plunger coffee and daily newspaper. More milk was provided with no trouble as we ran out of the pottos given on check in.
Beds comfortable. Bedrooms not generous in size but the living areas more than make up for it. A family of 4-6 could stay there without getting in each others way. Unit was fresh and clean and serviced daily. Sitting in the sun on the deck with breakfast coffee was a treat much enjoyed.

The location is close enough to walk to the town centre. We only got as far on foot as the Thai restaurant a couple of hundred meters down the road which provided a really good meal.

I am happy to recommend this motor lodge. We got a lot more than we were expecting for the money we were paying

As a group we booked 4 units including the 2 bedroom apartment. All were clean, tidy and comfy, all we needed as we didn't spend alot of time there. I felt more secure in an upstairs unit which which had a small balcony and lovely view. Ideal place for eating breakfast in the sun. The TVs have been upgraded from what is shown in their website and are modern flat screen TVs.

Good value for money especially as a $10 breakfast voucher was included. The cooked breakfast was a very generous serving. We enjoyed the use of the bbq and the staff were all very friendly.

The Edgewater is ideally located on the water front within walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets and shopping. I also recommend the Thai Hutt just down the road.
