Our Napier stay was fanastic. Lovely art deco city with pedestrian areas with shops, cafes etc.
Most helpful in reception with ideas for day trips etc.
A must for travellers to NZ.

We stayed at the Edgewater over the Christmas period. Yes, the apartment was very clean and tidy, in good condition and a handy location. However, we thought it was overpriced at $200 per night (1 bedroom studio), and we expected a bit more in the way of facilities at that price. A DVD in the room would have been good (not having to pay to hire one), breakfast included, and a decent pool (-the very small plunge pool was too cold to use) perhaps and/or a gym. Plus, the beds were very hard, so not that comfortable, neither was the lounge suite, which would be better in an office waiting room. Thank goodness for the playground across the road. We left feeling disappointed, that we definately paid too much for the waterfront location. We will look for something with more comfort and facilities for our next visit.

We stayed at the Edgewater over the New Year’s period. From the outset the owners were very accommodating, booking us into rooms that had an adjoining balcony as we were holidaying with friends. From previous experience I wasn't expecting much for the price and location but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was bigger than I expected it to be and the decor tasteful. Was very clean as well. It had everything we needed and was in a fantastic location. It was a real treat to be able to sit on our balcony and watch the city awaken and the evening start. The managers were very accommodating, providing us with a cone to save a larger car park for our van whenever we went out, and providing a storage facility for our bikes. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a reasonably priced place to stay.

We have just had our second stay at Edgewater, this time for 5 nights from late December until early January. Our single room was very pleasant with our own private balcony overlooking Marine Parade. We were looking for a holiday destination which would allow us to have a relaxing restful break at the end of busy year and Edgewater fitted the bill perfectly. We could walk to a choice of restaurants. The room was very nice, soundproof (most important) and we had a beautiful view to enjoy. We were also impressed with the daily servicing of the room - even after we had tidied up each day. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Stayed just one night in a studio room upstairs and we paid $104NZ. Room was very compact, but had everything we needed. Bed was comfy, room clean, kitchenette and a balcony to sit out on and enjoy the view. The view is straight across the road to the Pacific Ocean. The only thing to break the view is a couple of beautiful big pine trees. Motel was quiet even though on a beachfront road, there are no trucks on this road. Owners were very friendly and helpful. They suggested we also take a drive to Havelock North (about 20mins down the road). There is an amazing loookout there (Te Mata road lookout). 360 degree spectacular views, well worth a look. The town was small and pretty, and we visited some great wineries over towards the beach while we were there.
Napier was also lovely city with it's art deco buildings and seaside location.

I didn't have high hopes for the Edgewater, but it turned out great. The room was not huge, but was well laid-out and perfectly adequate. The best feature at the Edgewater is that the rooms seem to have just been renovated, so everything looks good and works -- the bathroom in particular was very good, roomy with an excellent shower.

The Edgewater's not very expensive, so it's a fine value.

A good motel, and can't fault really considering the manager gave two of us family sized room for price of studio room :)

The price was great as was the location.

The hotel was dated, but it was clean and suited us on a short stay.
