A fabulous experience, the crew were very friendly and knowledgeable and made you feel extremely welcome. It was the last week of a month’s tour of NZ. In the past we have been whale watching in Cape Cod and Kaikoura, both on larger vessels, but this felt much more sociable. There was plenty of room on board and the weather was fantastic in March. Its most of a day away with a sail looking for dolphins, again there were other larger vessels in the area but being slightly smaller we were able to get closer to the dolphins, and appeared to spend more time. Again we could not swim with them due to the fact they had babies with them. Take clothing suitable for the weather and footwear for the boat, trainers, plimsolls etc. Its pretty laid back and for the more adventurous, you do get the option to swim to the island were you moor-up for lunch, which is taken on board, otherwise it’s a small inflatable that takes you to the island. It’s a BBQ for lunch, I’m a vegetarian and they catered for me without any problem at all. If you do one thing in New Zealand, this is it!
