Well kept large rooms with better than expected in-rooms facilities. The motel is at the corner of Marsden street and the views are not entirely towards the best part of the bay, the hotels/motels next door onwards have a better view. Having said that, Marsden road is where all the action is. The reception we received was at best luke-warm and one of the owners likes to keep an at times intrusive eye on residents (atleast on some). The good-bye was even more colder than the welcome. But overall a good place in the right place.

The Anchorage Motel (not Hotel!) is a typically well-equipped and comfortable New Zealand motel. Its location on the corner as you come down the hill into Paihia is excellent: right on the seafront but not noisy, and an easy stroll into the centre of the small town of Paihia. We received a warm welcome from Aileen, who also booked our boat trip (at a discount) with no fuss. The room was on the first floor which meant carrying luggage up a staircase but this didn't bother us. We had a very comfortable night's stay, and the only fly in the ointment was that the cooked breakfast we had ordered didn't materialise due to some glitch. Aileen was very apologetic (the breakfasts are contracted out) and we were quickly given juice, cereal and toast. We were on a tight schedule as we were going on our boat trip that morning and needed to be out by 8.30am. We didn't have to pay for the breakfast and received a discount because of the error. We would happily have stayed there longer had our itinerary allowed.

We stayed in this hotel for one night, after switching from a horrible place. The room was $130 for a studio. It was relatively expensive, but Paihia is overall an expensive town. Overall, we were happy. The location was amazing.

The good:
- very clean room
- Kitchen was very well equipped
- Great location, just opposite the beach. 30 second walk to it
- Pool

The bad:
- No oven
- very expensive internet
- staff could be friendlier
- slightly overpriced

The Anchorage is a small hotel at the far end of the ocean frontage road in Paihia. It has comfortable rooms, most with ocean views, that include kitchenettes. I felt a little bit like being in a fish bowl because the door to the room is a sliding glass door looking out to the parking lot and ocean view.

We stayed one night at the Anchorage. We wished we had more time as there is so much to see and do around Paihia. We purchased a second floor room with a great view of the Bay.

The owner checked us in and was very helpful in working with us to make our experience of the North Island an enjoyable one.

If given the chance, We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in Paihia 2 nights at the start of our NZ holiday. The Anchorage Motel has brilliant location with a fantastic view - right across from the ocean and a 5 minute walk from the departure point for all water activities / cruises. Spotlesly clean, Extremely comfortable and great value for money

I recommend booking your excursions through the motel - not only is there no extra charge, we also got a 10% discount on our choosen trip

Theres a restaurant next door (i think its called Alfresco) which was open till late and the food was delicious.
