Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge Paihia
Ranked #16 of 43 Hotels in Paihia
Reviewed 15 February 2013

The hotel is situated overlooking the magnificent Paihia bay with views to die for. There is an outdoor heated pool at the front of the premises where you can swim and sunbathe and enjoy the vista. The restaurant and bar, situated on the first floor, benefit from similar views and it is a gret shame that most of the rooms do not enjoy them as well, as most face to the side of the hotel. The rooms are massive and the three we had all had two queen size beds and were clean, comfortable and well appoitnted, including a small fridge. Paihia is a beautiful part of the country with plenty to appeal to both adults and kids, and the hotel is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and other attractions. Breakfast was good but a little expensive and could be obtained cheaper within a two minute walk.

Room Tip: Request a sea view, although not sure if there are many rooms that afford such luxury. If you are a...

We had a week away that was unforgettable. The hotel stay was excellent. When sitting in the dining room one has view of the ocean. The service was great, food good and rooms comfortable. Walking distance from ferry terminal.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms overlook the ocean. Stunning views.

Autolodge Paihia-----Have been going here with our children and now Grandchildren for a number of years and used to stay in the Suites [older] but for the past 5 years have stayed in the new ones. Gorgeous views---still look new---serviced well. Christmas 2011 my son and family came over from Australia and we booked the 3 top suites for 10days. Within 4months they were back living in NZ
Something that was never going to happen before they came over for their holiday. Had been in Australia for 10 years.Relived a lot of Paihia/ Autolodge from their childhood holidays..It is nice to be remembered by the staff year to year.Nice to see reading the reviews that I am not being bias about this place. The gardener needs to be congratulated for the way he has the gardens looking so beautiful--a real picture. Will be back to my corner unit for 2014 if not sooner.

Room Tip: If you want a seaview you do need to book a suite [400s] block and you get an uninterrupted view acr...

Stayed 2 nights here. Booked over the phone and found the rooms we booked (2) to be excellent, very clean and modern and the hotel is in an ideal position close to the wharf . Tea making facilities including a frig were appreciated.

Stayed here as part of a tour group. Lovely room, bathroom set up brilliant. Staff very nice and helpful. Ate all main meals in restaurant. World class cuisine. Head chef needs congratulating. Very wide range of dishes beautifully presented. Would recommend this hotel to all tourists both Kiwis and overseas visitors.

Room Tip: If you do have a choice maybe a waterfront view would be nice, however my room although in courtyard...

We booked at short notice and were given a really reasonable rate for 2 adults and 2 kids, G'ma and G'dad with 2 grandkids, kids loved the pool and games room, G'dad loved the rate and G'ma just loved it all! Central to everything, great pool and games room, never got to the restaurant, only there for 2 nights, but it looked good and the rate again was good for the smorgasbord. We were only going to stay for one night, work beckoned, but a quick sickie call and a talk with the helpful front door staff had us staying another night, well worth the effort, 5 stars all round, next trip to Paihia is going to be there with Kings gate, minus the grandkids though, they cost to much!!

Room Tip: We had a room with 2 double beds, great for a night or 2, but if you have kids with you, go for the...

I loved my stay here. I had such a huge room to myself. The staff were great and the location was perfect. So close to everything and right on the waterfront.

Room was very clean and large, for such a large hotel it was very quiet. They also have a pool, it's not huge but it is very nice and it's right at the front so.. great views from the pool!

Loved my time in the bay of islands and would recommend Kingsgate
