Well only the 3rd hostel ever stayed in my entire life and it was a pleasure to stay there arrived late on a Saturday night meet by a charming sweep you off your feet salesman who sold us a combo deal, to do 2 trips of Paihia and right upto the top of the tip of NZ was the best $175.00 we have spent since moving to NZ. Anyway this place was clean as the rooms we spotless which was nice and very roomy as we had quite a bit of gear for a short trip but we had plently of space plus a very well stocked open kitchen plan was another huge bonus even though really didn't get a chance to cook so busy doing the tours sold to us but overall coming to Paihia stay here the feeling around the place was so nice but must say big thanks to Rosie who helped us on arrival and even when we were in the sitting / tv room he was around to help us. Great choice here No 1. for me so far oh 1 last thing beds so comfy better than mine at home.

Booked originally at Base down the street and moved to Peppertree after a few nights. I ended up staying almost 2 weeks!
The owner Bryan is super nice, offered me makeshift accommodation even though the hostel was full on Easter weekend and I was stuck in a bind. Really clean hostel, even witnessed Bryan and his family doing much of the work themselves, you can see how much they care about the place.

A little quieter then most hostels on Kings Rd, the type of guests it attracted was great. A bit more mature= clean kitchen all the time. Free bikes were put to good use!

Thanks Bryan for making Paihia so special!

Room Tip: 4 share dorms with ensuite are the nicest.

I've stayed at Pepper Tree a few times, in the dorms and in a private room, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Paihia.

Very clean and well maintained, good communal space including a big outdoor eating area with BBQs. The owners are fantastic, Bryan is hilarious and has great local knowledge. Can't fault it, already looking forward to going back :)

Stayed at pepper tree lodge for 5 days. Best hostel I've stayed at whilst backpacking through oz and Nz.

Clean, nice kitchen, good communal area, helpful staff and free kayaks. It's spot on. Would definitely stay here again. It's great for price and location and has a great vibe and easy to make friends to travel with.

Brian and the staff are really helpful and friendly and will sort out all trips and coach travel you may need. Best place to stay in Paihia by far! Fact

Paihia is an amazing place and is worth the visit.

A fantastic backpackers with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Very clean and airy with very helpful staff.

I booked several trips while staying and bus back to Auckland, Bryan was very helpful and knowledgeable when booking everything and spent time helping me decide which trips were worth doing and which areas I should visit next which made a refreshing change.

The rooms were very clean and beds comfy.
The kitchen was well equipped and loved the outdoor BBQs.

Perfect location, one of my favourite places I visited while travelling Nz:)

Staying at Peppertree was a great experience. Staff were welcoming and could not do enough for us, helping organise and advise on a few trips. Found this a great, no pressure help on sorting trips out, especially as one was for an important birthday treat. Owner was very helpful, sharing knowledge and vast experience of the area and always had a tale or two to tell.
We stayed in the self-contained flat and other family members shared an ensuite room and both were very clean, comfortable and more than reasonably priced.
We took full advantage of the tennis, kayaking and bikes available from Peppertree and loved Paihia and would love to go back sometime.

Stayed here in early jan 2014 and absolutely fell in love with the place, if peppertree would of given me a job, I'd of cancelled my return flight and stayed.
It's got everything our family needed and wanted from our accommodation whilst in the area, a great welcome, clean and comfortable and we made loads of use of all the free extras;
Bikes, kayaks, tennis equipment, plus we exhausted the knowledge of Brian the fab owner who gave us loads of tips and advice on local things to see and do!
I was genuinely shocked and surprised at how much I loved my stay here and the high standards at peppertree went along way towards this, I felt like I've found where I belong and will most definitely be back for another visit!
