We stayed at the Swiss for 2 nights in March in a family room. The room was well equipped with an amazing sea view. The staff were very helpful, arranging our sight seeing boat trip, and even helping us with a doctors appointment for my daughter. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Charming place. Our room was lovely - comfortable bed, little kitchenette, nice bathroom. Loved the shower! Balcony off the room. Short walk to shops and restaurants. Only disconcerting thing was no barriers and people from the next room sitting out at the same time but I guess most of the places in New Zealand are set up this way. Didn't get to meet Phil but Maureen was absolutely delightful and extremely helpful. She got us set up with doing our laundry, booked a cruise and recommended two restaurants, both excellent. They were "Only Seafood" where we had an amazing baked fish with a Galliano and banana cream sauce. Second night was fish n chips at "Shipies" - a wrecked old boat turned into a fish-n-chip diner. Great ambiance! Thanks Maureen for giving us a pleasant memorable stay!

We stayed there in January and had a wonderful time. The location of the motel is perfect, a great base to explore town, the Bay of Island and surrounding forests and country side. The owners were super friendly, gave us great advise on what to see and do, and even made the bookings for us. The corner family room had a nice view over the Bay, was clean and spacious and beds were comfortable. If we go back to Paihia one day, we'd love to stay there again!

We stayed 4 nights in a studio unit which suited us admirably. Extremely clean and very close to town. Maureen was very helpful and after giving us unbiased information on what was available she booked us on two tours. (Incidentally we ended up going with Explore and did the Cape Reinga and Hole in the Rock tours - absolutely great value for money). Would highly recommend Swiss Chalet and would stay there again when back that way.

We stayed here for three nights in Mid February. The location is in town and near restaurants and the boat dock. We used this location as our base to see the area. The owner was very friendly and helpful with questions on things to see and do. The accomidations would fall into a two Star based on USA standards. However the room was clean. Coffee and Tea available in the room. It had a balcony with table and chairs. Great for a bottle of wine at the end of the day. Rate was about $140
USD. This is a resort area and not a fancy hotel location. Most were motels. We drove all around the area and visited Russell across the bay. We ate supper at the Duke of Marlborough. Food was good.

Room Tip: We visited this area after finishing a 2 wk cruise to Auckland. Water was not visible from our room.

Stayed here for 3 nights during our tour. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. The room was exactly as described, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Wish I'd been there for longer
