The Redwoods is just what a B&B should be. We were lucky to stay in some excellent places in New Zealand, but this certainly ranks amongst the best.

Needless to say the room was great and the breakfast superb (definitely go for the pancakes), but more than that Vivien & Peter are keen to provide that all important personal touch that separates B&B's from more formal hotels or motels.

Nothing was too much trouble. Even when I developed a toothache that needed urgent dental treatment, Vivien found me an emergency dentist and booked an appointment for me. Sadly the tooth had to come out, but it would have been so much worse without Vivien's help.

If ever I find myself back in Rotorua I will make this my place to stay.

We stayed at the Redwoods for 2 nights and spent ages deciding on where to stay, we were not disappointed.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by our host Vivien who couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful.

We were taken straight to our room which was lovely and felt very homely. The room was a good size and did not feel cramped with our 2 large suitcases. The terrace was beautiful and although it was winter it was still lovely to sit outside as it is out of the smell zone. The bed was very comfortable and the decor was very nice.

Vivien was so helpful with recommending where to go and giving very clear directions. We had homemade cake offered to us on arrival and the breakfast had a great selection of continental and cooked options.

We would definately recommend this place and also stay gere next time.

Firstly, my apologies to Vivien for writing this review only now.. Been busy since I got back from our NZ trip!

Needless to say, the stay was wonderful, we booked both rooms and they were perfect. We love everything about the house from the living / dining area, patio, rooms to the lovely hostess Vivienne. The rooms were immaculately clean and well-furnished. Breakfasts were great as well.

Now on to our lovely hostess, she made us feel right at home at her B&B and we had our lovely night and morning breakfast chats on the 2 days we were there.. She offered us lotsa of good suggestions on the must-visits in Rotorua and gave us an insight to her life in Rotorua as well.

I would highly recommend this B&B to everyone intending to travel to Rotorua!

We had just 2 nights here but wished we could have stayed longer. The room was immaculate, the en-suite bathroom had everything you could want.
Vivienne was the most attentive hostess, with amazing local knowledge, she encouraged us to visit one attraction we didn't feel we had time for, and wow it was everything Viv said it would be.
The breakfast was plentiful, homemade jams, wonderful cooked breakfast.
Little touches were so much appreciated, Viv made sure the heater was on in our room before we returned in the evening, she made us tea and gave us cake when we arrived after our 13 hour flight and 3 hour dive, Perfect..
Thanks again Viv

Very cosy, warm and clean, delicious breakfasts, and very personable chatty hosts. Also loved being so close to the Whakarewarewa (Redwood) forest - just 2 mins up the road = )
