Very nice B&B with a great view over the city of Rotorua. The suite was very spacious and well-equipped. Naomie was very welcoming and we spent a great time in the thermal park that she recommended us.

Kaju17 - thank you so much for your lovely review. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and loved the views as much as we do. We only recommend places that we like ourselves and the geothermal parks around Rotorua are very pretty to see. We hope you will visit us again one day, until then, travel safely.

Citylights is a stylish, boutique pad on top of a hill in Rotorua, with beautiful unobstructed sweeping views of the city. Naomi was very kind and attentive to our needs, and upgraded us to the suite when we arrived, which is a very nice surprise. Have a glass of wine by the patio and just enjoy the view and the weather! She suggested a restaurant just 5 mins up the hill, and that was fabulous! Great food, excellent views! Get there early to get a table by the window. Overall a very nice, relaxing stay to unwind.

We stayed at the Cottage at City Lights Boutique Lodge for 6 nights from the 9 to 15 February. Excellent accommodation, quiet, very peaceful and relaxing.

The cottage is situated on its own away from the main house with great views of Rotorua in the valley below. Yet you are only a 10 minute drive away from the town Centre and Lake Rotorua

Naomi & Jim give you a wonderful friendly welcome, then leave you to enjoy your stay but are always there if you need any help or advice.

Fabulous welcome pack waiting for us. Far more extensive than the usual carton of milk and a few tea bags. Included some very nice homemade Apricot jam.

The Cottage is very clean and well equipped a cosy little home from home. It has everything you need to have a wonderful stay.

Fully equipped kitchen, we ate breakfast and dinner in every day and had everything we needed. Nice decking so you can eat sat outside at the table on the decking or eat in at the breakfast bar.

Large TV and DVD player which came in very handy in the evenings after dinner.

Comfortable main bedroom with lovely views plus a small bedroom with two bunk beds.

Modern shower / bathroom area. The washing machine also came in very useful as did the outside washing line.

Excellent Wi Fi is included in the cost of the cottage, which in New Zealand is a big plus.

Brilliant place to stay highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stopped in the Cottage which is great for those who want to self cater and are looking for peace...

My future wife and I stayed here for 3 nights back in August 2010. I do a lot of travel due to business and leisure but to be honest I usually neglect to put up reviews on TripAdvisor but City Lights has stuck in my mind for the last 2.5 yrs so I feel the need to share..

We had driven down from Auckland and the car was overheating (due to a blocked radiator, but another story..), when I phoned ahead to say that we may be a little late due to pitstops to cool down, Naomi took it all in stride and went so far as to arrange for a mechanic we could take the car to for an inspection. This was the first good impression and we hadn't even arrived!

Once there, we found the hosts to be amazingly helpful, and the rooms were great! My only regret was not getting the full english breakfast all the mornings!

I must tip my hat, in the last 2 years I have stayed in dozens of B&B's and met a plethora of hosts, but none stick more in my mind than this one. When we return to NZ (a Kiwi currently abroad) then we will definitely stay here again for our Rotorua leg!

We are very much looking forward to you visiting us again. Until then, travel safely.

Our family of 4 stayed here for 3 nights in the cottage and loved everything about this property!! When we arrived we were greeted by Naomi, who is definitely in the right business.. She was friendly, informative and approachable without being intrusive. The cottage has the most lovely views over the city and the master bedroom has the wow factor with doors opening onto the deck so you can see the lights at night and beautiful scenery in the morning all from bed!! The kids loved their bunk beds too ... Along with the big screen tv, and free (fast) wifi! A lovely touch was the alpacas and goat who visited regularly!! From a practical perspective everything you could want was there... From a well stocked kitchen to washing machine, dryer and dishwasher ... Everytime I went to get something I always found it whether it be scissors or extra blankets ... It had it all!! The location was perfect, as it was close to the city, had fabulous views and was far enough out to avoid the sulphur smells!!! We couldn't fault this place and would have loved to spend a lot longer here and exploring this great part of NZ!!

Excellent B&B, modern but very homely. Free wifi everywhere, computer at your disposal, complementary soft drinks, fridge, coffee-making facility, rooms decorated with great taste, bathroom very elegant with natural bath accessories.
Jim and Naomie thought of so many small details that make all the difference and make them stand out as an exquisite B&B. We highly appreciated the fact that Naomie was always discreetly around to help us, advise us, make the necessary phone calls. She even welcomed us back late at night when we returned from an evening out - just to attend to us and see whether all was fine.
Moreover, they are located in a very peaceful area with magnificent views, outside the sulphur-smelling town. You can very easily reach the town center and get back on the main state highway to continue your journey. Naomie, Jim, the kids, Jelly, Snowhite, the alpacas... They will stick in our minds for a long time.

Excellent accomodation with stunning views over Rotorua. Very friendly hosts, excellent breakfast, quiet place to stay and sleep. We recommend this B&B to everyone who wants to be 'off' the typical tourist locations and have his private sphere

Room Tip: we had the Tui Suite
