Reviewed 21 November 2013 via mobile

Park is not big but it has a homey feel. Owner is friendly. FOC kayaking and kid under 12 get free fishing license. Fishing rod rental at $5. Kitchen is airy and very clean. Foc hot shower. At $16 adult and child $8. This is a value for money accommodation. They also have trout fishing lesson provide at a fee.

Holidays, or in this case a short three day break, are about everyone, being able to do their own thing.
Waiteti,is just this kind of place.
As a single Dad with two kids,We can leave Auckland and be there in a couple of hours, spur of the moment things, check whats available,( bang gone), the Kids never say no.
They can have complete and safe freedom,to use supplied, canoes,Table tennis, fishing rods, smoke house for the catches trampoline.sky T.V if you have to. pay for a game of pool,
or sneak in an ice from the shop,
Come on this is a kids paradise, and not far off for Dad.
But if you want more, five minutes from most of the other wallet hovering activities,
And lets face it we all end up there.
Or ten to a great restaurant or cafe in town.

I found Waiteti Ten years ago,my kids have grown in the time we have been coming.
The warm welcome has always been the same.
A place of peace and relaxation

Every time we are there Michael and Jeanette have made improvements,
I find it staggering, how much they put back into Waiteti but I thank them for it.

The cleanliness service and value, are something that need no change.
It;s just Bloody Fantastic.

Check out the Christmas and New year festivity if your lucky
If you have kids they will be blown away.

We keep coming back. One of NZs best. Michael and Jeanette are constantly improving and manicuring an already beautiful spot. A warm friendly welcome, always helpful, great location what else could you ask for? Perhaps a few trout, well they obliged, so Paradise.

Room Tip: The rooms are well appointed and comfy, they range from basic to motel to suit all budgets. There is...

Early September we visited the Holiday Park to meet up with friends as we were looking for accommodation for Labour weekend in October, it wasn't clear where we should be parked so we parked behind another vehicle, we were parked in the wrong place along with 2 other vehicles.
Micheal the owner came out & rudely told us all to move our vehicles as they were blocking the entrance, we were all rather surprised in the tone and wording he used but put it down to him maybe having an off day as we all do from time to time.
Two weeks later on the 20th September we rung to make a booking for 1 night for Labour weekend, & were to confirm in a couple of days if we wanted to book another 2 nights, however when we mentioned we had a trailer with another vehicle on it we were told that we would have to pay an extra $18.00 per day, ok we thought that's fair enough but once again he came across as rude & that we were more of a hassel to him. As we were part of a group staying there we rung the others asking if they were told about the $18.00 extra charge, NO they hadn't been told or charged. Within 36-48 hours we cancelled our booking, then much to our surprise when our credit card statement came we found Micheal had refunded our deposit less $20.00. We rung him & asked why, his response was it was a cancellation fee, understandable if we cancelled a week or 2 out from our booking, but cancelling a whole month in advance we never dreamed we would be charged & we certainly were not informed there was a cancellation fee when we rung. Micheal certainly needs to brush-up on his bedside manner. We wouldn't look at going there again.

A sign at our front gate clearly requests visitors to report to the office on arrival. This is for the safety of our guests and so we can direct visitors where to park. This is typical of most Holiday Parks and most reasonable people understand that.
Unfortunately this visitor decided to disrespect this request and parked in the driveway blocking it for use by guests and I make no apologies asking them to move.
This reviewer is a repeat customer and is well aware of our rules and Im not sure what he was checking out for Labour Weekend.
Most of the Club booked well in advance for the busy Labour Weekend and we put aside a parking area for their additional vehicles and trailers. When that area is full we can offer extra parking on powersites only at a nominal charge of $18 pn.
Our Reservation Policy is clearly outlined on our website and Guest Information. This reviewer is a repeat customer and is well aware of our Policy. A cancellation fee is typical of most Holiday Parks and most reasonable people understand that.
This reviewer rang to discuss the charge but became abusive with foul language so we terminated the call. We have a record of that conversation.
The club is always welcome and we are usually able to provide a venue for evening celebrations for guests from the club and their visitors at no extra cost. Unfortunately this reviewer is no longer welcome.

I recently stayed here for two nights. The owners are very charming and helpful. Our one bedroom cabin was immaculate with plenty of room for 2-3 people. You can't beat the location on the stream with a nice walkway all the way down to the lake. We had a lovely time and will be back soon!

We recently stayed here for 4 nights. We were in Rotorua for 3 birthdays and had taken up most of the lodge. We were as difficult as could be but Michael had the most patience for us. The park was well maintained and very child friendly. The kids absolutely loved it from playing on the playground and tramp right down to the games/entertainment room and being able to kayak down to the lake for free. Wasn't a long drive to Rotorua only 5-10 minutes away. We also had people that came in late one night that were also able to be catered for. Our rooms were excellent always heated(as we were there in the winter). Kitchen facilities were perfect which we also were allowed to have a little family doo in. I would recommend this place to anybody who would love peace and quiet but also some outdoor activities for the kids. Very worthwhile and can't wait to go back and stay again.
