We stayed at Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park for one night and it was definitely one of the nicer campsites we stayed at. Although it is off a busy road and near to town it still felt like we were in the countryside.
Our motor home spot was next to a covered walkway which led to the kitchen/bathroom facilities. It had easy access to power, a fresh water supply and grey water drain which made sorting out the van the next morning much easier. Although the bathrooms looked like they could do with a little TLC, they were clean with powerful showers and plenty of hot water. The hot baths were clean and as we were visiting at a quiet time, we weren't competing for space. The changing area could be a little better - making sure the door actually shuts properly in cold weather would be good.
My only negative comment is that the site should be better lit as it's not particularly easy to find your way around at night and as a woman walking around the campsite on my own, I would have preferred a little more light in some of the more densely wooded areas.More
