One of the only restaurants that wasn’t packed, found out why when the food came.
Waited almost 40 minutes for sirloin steak that was medium rare one end and well done on the other, no seasoning and tasted burnt. Came with hot chips and luke warm mushroom sauce - no salad or veggies.
The Beef Burger was merely the same disappointing sirloin steak in bread - no seasoning and tasted burnt.
Note - they don’t serve alcohol on saturdays.

I wouldn’t recommend or return. Felt like a waste of money, was really disappointing.

First night in Rotorua after flying in on the evening flight so headed for a light meal near our hotel. Came across the Solace Cafe & Restaurant at Eat Street. Welcoming staff, nice wine and great meal. Would definitely recommend.

Being Nestled in a the main restaurant zone of Rotorua it's hard to stand out in the crowd. The surf n turf was very tasty but probably just a bit small. The overall feel of the place was a bit empty and heartless, being in need of some sort of cosy or unique atmosphere. Good food and OK service, just nothing out standing.

Word on the street is this establishment is closing down soon, shame as offers a great meal with very attentive service. Located in Eat Street where a normal street is blocked off permanently from vehicle access to create a street of restaurants either side - very well done and a great concept offering all manner of restaurant styles in one area. Walk through to the end of Eat Street and there is the Lake front.
Solace offers ‘specials’ advertised on a sandwich board enticing your appetite. There is a large covered over area out front (similar for all establishments within Eat Street as fully enclosed from the weather. You can dine outside so to speak yet can get chilly if there is a cool breeze through. Have been a regular here every time I visit Rotorua and always received great service and food.
Probably the only draw-back in my opinion is the lack of craft beers available, either on tap or bottled.
Meals, especially the steak are perfectly cooked and with the addition of a side order of salad makes a well-balanced meal. What I do enjoy is the coffee made here, always perfect and in my mine the best on offer in Rotorua and very reasonably priced. Rotorua is a difficult town to find a great coffee in my experience with some cafes’ charging $5 for a regular double shot flat white.
Solace certainly will be missed by this customer.

We came from Hamilton and was looking forward to trying one of the new food joints… The portions were disappointing, the price range was okay unfortunately it wasn't value for money… Wouldn't reccommend this place.
