My family (husband and two children) stayed in the Tarawera Suite for 3 nights, which was perfect. The rooms are tastefully decorated and clean with everything you could need.
The facilities are amazing, the children were spoilt for choice between playing on the 5 acres of land, watching movies in the cinema room or playing in the toy room. When they weren't doing this they were being entertained by Mick & Teresa either feeding the animals or going on a treasure hunt or archeological dig!
The location is great as you are close to all the main attractions and about 10 minute drive from Rotorua centre which means you don't get the sulphur smells or the noise.
Mick & Teresa are the most wonderful hosts and the children said they reminded them of their grandparents.
The breakfast was also wonderful with all of Teresa's homemade goodies. The lovely cakes for afternoon tea and Micks vast selection of spirits in the evening was the icing on the cake.
I would thoroughly recommend this B & B and will definitely be staying there again the next time we are in Rotorua.

Mike and Teresa make the B&B a truly relaxing stay and a wonderful time for my whole family (My wife + 8 + 6 yr old kids) This was our first B & B and I have to say we could not have asked for a better 'First Introduction' into staying @ a B & B. We stayed in the Garden Suite which was ample for the four of us.. (we stayed 2 nights) The place is clean and efficient. Teresa and Mike were both pleasant hosts. As we had not come prepared for our activities, Teresa volunteered several itineraries for us to choose from and spaced them to time with the start of shows. More than breakfast, our kids enjoyed feeding the ducks, sheep, donkeys and chicken each morning. My daughter's thrill was to get the fresh eggs that Mike would make breakfast
with. My son would go and pick the fresh berries that Teresa used to make berry shakes with.

The "treasure hunt" was a real treat for the kids as they enjoyed grazing the whole farm. A highlight that we are now being asked to replicate back home quite often... An additional positive is that Mokoia Downs is about 15 minutes drive away from the Geysers which alleviates a fair amount of the Sulfur smell that can get over bearing for first timers. From a perspective of what we (my wife and I) should have done more off... would be a) to spend more time in the Patio as the weather was amazing and b) to grab a book and sit by the lake or under the trees and mellow out. Mike owns a truck load of books and probably was a Librarian in his previous Life. c) Also, I would borrow one of the several sets of Golf clubs that Mike owns and play on the Golf Course by the Lake. (5-7 min drive).

Lastly, our most relaxing part of the day was to get the kids to crash out and then we sat down with Mike and Teresa @ the infamous "Anglers Arms" that so many of you have written about... This i where we really enjoyed the home made liquors + you really got a chance to understand the drive and passion that Mike and Teresa have for making sure that the guests walk away with a lovely experience.

Our stay was wonderful and I would strongly recommend this place. Especially if this would be ur first B & B.

Room Tip: Garden Suite if you are looking for some privacy.. this room is away from the main house.

We were in NZ for about 11days and all my kids can remember was our two day visit to Mokoia Downs. You wake up to all the sights and sounds of nature. Mick & Teresa are wonderful hosts, very informative, helpful & caring...Good gourmet breakfast! Home brewed sweet concoction of liqueurs! Tailor made games for kids! Farm animals were an added bonus. And many such hidden surprises.
Its about 2.30 hour drive from Auckland airport, which is a scenic drive alongside the country. If i'm not mistaken there's a Rotorua airport as well, in case you are flying within NZ.

Found this bed and breakfast on tripadvisor. Our hosts Theresa and mike looked after us well and gave us plenty of tips for the Rotorua area . They have a booklet of local walks which was helpful. Loved the homemade jams and yoghourts . Mikes bar the "anglers arms" is a great place to chat about what you've done during the day and to plan the next day near the lake. Good work guys !
