“Exceptional Luxury and style in an unusual setting”

This is a true little gem situated on the Rotarua lake (rather smelly at first). This black picture pretty hotel is a fresh yet exiting experience on the senses. The Bright blue, white and black design feels modern yet luxurious. Beautiful outside relaxation in manicured landscaped garden with resident black swans quietly going about their business on the lake. Breakfast was delish as the chef was charming and nothing was too much effort. Our stay was magnificent, but hopelessly to short. Will recommend it to anyone looking to experience something fresh, new and out of the norm!

Room Tip: Lake view or garden view rooms are best

We spent 2 nights at this beautifully appointed boutique hotel, and wished we could have stayed longer. The hosting (by Suzan) gave the feeling of a very friendly B&B, the standard of accommodation and food was top end hotel.

The well cared for gardens running down to the lake offered a wonderful setting to relax, and the hotel has it's own helipad and jetty for float planes. If you want secluded luxury in Rotorua look no further.

We stayed here for two nights as a family and had an amazing time, relaxing and enjoyable. The welcome we got was very welcoming and it continued throughout our stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful. A perfect place to just completely relax and chill out.

Right from our gracious welcome, I knew the Black Swan was going to surpass any accommodation experience I've ever had. Our host was welcoming and genuinely friendly. The whole property is wonderful, from the gorgeous, relaxing gardens and pool, to the stylish and very modern rooms. Our view across the lake was lovely and made waking up early to catch the sunrise and take a dip in the lake more than worthwhile.

Room Tip: We had 'lakeview' and it was divine.

I stayed two nights at this beautiful hotel overlooking the lake. The rooms are sumptuous and very comfortable and the hotel gardens are stunning. It is the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing, have a swim in the pool and then just laze in one of the comfy garden chairs that are scattered around the lawn and arbors. A great breakfast was provided with everything freshly cooked. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would have loved to have stayed there longer and just chilled.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view.

We had just a one night stop here on our way across NZ and the weather was not the best - You couldnt even see accross the Lake which was a shame.

However this is a beautiful and very welcoming boutique hotel - friendly and helpful staff.

the room was very modern and stylist but still had a romantice feel to it.

the house and gardens are very well appointed but the weather put an end to our using any of it.

Lovely place and nice breakfast.

Highly reccommend.

The Black Swan is the sister hotel of the Regent Rotorua. We had booked and wanted to stay in the latter, in the centre of town, so were disappointed to be moved to the Black Swan which is out of town and therefore a drive, not walk, to the town and its restaurants. However, despite that, we loved the Black Swan. It is set in a beautiful location with lovely gardens going down to the lake. The rooms are very comfortable and it is opulently decorated throughout. Breakfast was excellent and service attentive. We were sorry we were not staying long enough to enjoy a relaxing few days in its garden. For a peaceful break away from it all in a beautiful, tranquil setting, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
