“A great day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2013

We, a family with 2 teenage children, did the forest walk and river rafting trip. It turned out to be the most memorable day of our stay in New Zealand, with Tom a very knowledgeable, friendly and skilled guide and rafter. The forest was a very magical place, we saw lots of birds, trees and plants that were new to us. The rafting was great fun, just the right mixture of excitement on the rapids and peace, cruising downriver viewing the scenery. Highly recommended!

“River Rafting and Forest Rambling”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2012

We spent a day with Tom and his crew, first hiking an easy loop trail thru the Whirinaki forest, where we saw many native plants and endangered birds. The sounds of their calls were particularly memorable across the canopy. Tom and his fellow ecologist/ biologist co- guides are native kiwis from the area, very in touch with the land, it's history, and the conservation and environmental issues facing the region. He speaks passionately from an environmentalist perspective, but can discuss the financial and social issues rationally as well.
After a tasty lunch on the trailhead, we assembled back at headquarters for our gear and the shuttle to the site of our rafting adventure. We were equipped with wetsuits, helmet, booties, paddles, splash jackets and paddles, all nearly new and in good repair. After a safety briefing, we were off down the river! The water was clear, fast moving and refreshing, the range of wild life seen from the banks amazing. We had a great time running down the rapids and were sorry when our day ended.

“Best Day out in Rotorua”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2012

Great day had rafting the Rangitaiki and wandering through the Whirinaki Rainforest. Tom the guide is super funny, and knows so much about the plants, bugs, and animals of NZ. This is so much better than any typical touristy rafting trip. Do it!!

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2012

we did the R&R trip and had a great day. Learnt heaps of interesting facts from Tom in the forest about native wildlife and had a great afternoon on the Rangitaiki, I was even allowed to swim! Good fun for adults & kids alike, and very informative for tourists.
