Very good location in Rotorua. next to the lake. Some of the lake side rooms do not have air-conditioners ( yet). they are upgrading the rooms though. nice touch to put a welcome tray of goodies in the room. it has a swimming pool. It's really across the road from the world famous Polynesian Spa. You could walk for some nice shopping and food options from here. The reception desk staff was very friendly and efficient. gave us insight into various activities. Many activities like Duck tours etc. have a pick up point from this hotel. The activity desk also subtly dissuaded us from going some " unknown" spa, saying "they were not sure of the place etc". very professional yet personal.

Room Tip: Pl check : some lake side rooms DO NOT have air conditioners. and road facing rooms can be a bit noi...

We stayed 2 nights and went as a family. This hotel has great specials on their website. We got the Family Bonanza Deal, which includes family cooked breakfast, $5 for kids meals & 10% of some attractions. I was very surprised on how many family's where booked in this hotel. Our kids just loved the heated swimming pool they swam all day & night as it closes at 10 pm. We found that it could have been just a little hotter. Our room was big and clean we loved it. The staff were amazing they where always eager to please. We really enjoyed our breakfast, we decided to go to breakfast late and found they where fully booked but it did not take long for us to be seated and the food was lovely and fresh.
This hotel does have a lot of tour buses, I loved the hustle and bustle of watching people getting on with their lives. My husband and I have agreed that we will be back. We have stayed at a few Hotels & Motels in Rotorua and the Sudima has been the best so far.

One of the best hotels I stayed in Rotorua. Great location within a walking distance from everything , you don't even need a car and they have heaps of car parks around the hotel. Good helpfull staff too. We stayed in superior lakeview room for $119 and it totally worth it. You have to book it by telephone though, they don't have lakeview rooms online.

Second visit and this hotel's standard rooms are clean, quiet, close to Polynesian spa and town and big.

No faults, it's not top end but it has lots going for it. Why stay anywhere else would be my suggestion. Hunt for good deals too, they come around often. Warm as too in winter!

Stayed for 2 nights in May for the Marathon. Although it is showing its age, the Sudima has very good amenities, is clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. Great location with plenty of parking and handy to the start of the Marathon plus all the eateries and supermarket. Would definitely stay here again.

You can't beat the location of this place for a couple of nights in Rota-Vegas. It's not the greatest or most luxurious hotel. It's not expensive either. It caters to huge coach parties which makes it a little impersonal. I was glad that we upgraded to a deluxe room. We had twin double beds for two of us - which after a few weeks of hostels was a real treat. The place smells - but you can't get away from it. It's the lake.... and it's next to the lake!! The views are at 90degrees from the good rooms - and the not so good rooms are hiding behind the main hotel building. We took them up on the Maori evening and it was fun. The food was good - but it was in a "conference" type room with about 20 tables. We were the only table that weren't on a coach trip - and the buffet wasn't easy to get to once the groups got involved!
The windows surrounds and bathrooms looked like they needed a good clean with a bleach solution. There were a fair few spiders and bugs around too - and the smell meant that the balcony wasn't really an option. But there is a lot to do in the town so it's a good place if you're just looking for a clean bed. We went to the spa next door both days so I didn't use the shower.. . didn't want to - there was a massive spider in it! Wifi is expensive.

Room Tip: Upgrade - it's not that much money you're saving and it's worth it!

Stayed here on business. The Sudima is showing its age. While it is close to the centre of town, and the Events Centre, it's rooms are jaded. The bed was pretty bouncy, which took a bit of getting used to. The ironing board didn't fold out properly but was still usable. The TV had Sky TV but limited channel range. In the first evening of my 3 night stay, suddenly the lights, and fan (no air conditioning) went off but thankfully the TV and iron remained on. After calling reception, full power was restored within 10 minutes and one of the staff knocked on my door to check that everything was ok. The bathroom was ok, with great shower pressure. The hotel seems to catering for tour parties (with tour bus noise in the mornings). Overall, I will look elsewhere next time.
