Very quick check in. Hotel is so distance from town. $10 cab fare town to hotel. Two double beds, spacious room. Bathroom very good with fittings all in good condition. Recommend this hotel.
Gluten free food available.

Room Tip: I was warned not to stay in the old section but I could not find an old section

The sheets in our room had not been changed from the prior guest. There was some type of Vaseline or other grease on them and the pillow case was dirty. It was disgusting. We called Reception and someone came up at 10:00 p.m., agreed that the sheets had not been changed, and brought clean sheets.

Both sets of sheets were threadbare. The towels were frayed and unraveling. The blanket on the bed was tattered at the ends; any household would have thrown it away. I suspect that the Copthorne hotels buy discarded sheets, towels, and blankets from nice hotels and use them for a few more years.

They allow only 20 minutes of free wifi, and only in the lobby. There is also a MB limit, so if your computer automatically updates Windows or your anti-virus program, you may actually only get 6 minutes on the internet; that happened to me. Up and down the streets in Rotorua were other motels advertising that they had free internet; we had stayed at 6 other motels in New Zealand and all allowed unlimited or almost unlimited free internet in your room. The Copthorne hotels are just chintzy, and trying to nickel and dime their customers.

The hotel was full of tour groups. There were 6 buses in the parking lot. There is no reason for anyone to stay in this hotel unless you are with a tour group and are forced to stay here.

The hotel was very spacious with big restaurant, bar and pool area.Staff were courteous but not
over friendly.I had to ask for a compendium to find out about the services. This was duly delivered by a porter. There was a hole in the floor in the bathroom which worried one in terms of unwelcome visitors....The room could do with a touch up.No air conditioning but a ceiling fan and it did open out on to a grassed area. This meant very noisy neighbours congregating outside after returning from a function at midnight.Restaurant staff very courteous

We checked into our SUPERIOR ROOM for a stay of 7 nights. After 30 minutes went to reception to check that we were actually checked into the right room. We were told we in the correct room. At the very least we thought we would have had 2 queen beds as per brochure. Not 1 Queen and 1 Single. Never had our sheets changed in all the time we were there. There was a van outside but the Hotel did not offer courtesy vehicle. 2km into centre of town. Meals very average. It was suggested we support this hotel as they were a sponsor of our Sports event being held in Rotorua.
Felt very dissapointed for the distance my friend on I had travelled. Air Cond was as loud as a running motor vehicle within the room. At the end of the day we had a bed each and that was about it really. Some staff could be more friendly . The Reception and Bar staff we dealt with were good. Maybe a little more training on the information of their town would be beneficial. After we asked if a certain local trip would collect us from the hotel, and were told no, we made our own way into the Rotorua I-site. While we wated for the tour to begin the driver said he was on his way to the Copthorne to collect some customers?? Come down South and we would be happy to show you our area, and how passionate we are about making visitors welcome to our area.

Room Tip: Check out what the Std room soffer compared to the Superior?

Thank you for your review. I was disappointed to hear the hotel was not what you expected although the booking was done on your behalf by the organizor. However I thnak you for your feedback and would suggest a motel would best suit your needs as you do have access to cooking facilities. Although we did not meet your criterias I do thank you for your feedback.

Since the hotel address did not have a number other than Fenton Street, we drove about the entire length of the street before we found it. When we checked in, we were given an upgrade to the top floor. We were so happy, until we got to the room.

The room's full windows faced the full brunt of the afternoon sun & the room was so warm, the air-conditioner didn't cool the room till hours later. Apparently the entire facility had recently been renovated & it looked modern & clean. We did spot water damage on the bottom-edge of the bathroom-door. Speaking of which, it was rather small & difficult to maneuver in.

The hotel also seemed to be THE stopping point for bus loads of Chinese tourists everyday - noisy & with several smokers, despite the non-smoking policy.

Loved the layout of the place: small but lovely pool, spacious seating areas, green front lawn. Rather large bar that had customers in the evening, and a Jimmy Cook restaurant which we tried for dinner. Since the hotel was so out of the way, eating anywhere else meant a drive into town.

We did stop in town to shop for souvenirs and the supermarket for food & drinks. Other than the opposite end of Fenton Street (loved the lakefront!), the town had the usual businesses.

Overall, the hotel was quite nice but the location is not ideal. Good thing the gas station was very close by.

Thank you for your feedback. Our non smoking policy is very hard to police although we do our upmost to control this. I was pleased to read you did enjoy some of the facilities of the hotel although our location did not quite suit your needs. Your acknowlegemnet of your stay is appreciated.

Thank you kindly
