Overall clean and good service. But...
Beds mushy
Carpets worn
Air conditioning didn't work in our room.very hot and couldn't leave windows open because we had a ground floor room facing the parking lot.
Outdoor lounge had piles of bird poo under nests on lights
Old fashion low security mechanical room keys

Comfy bed and room. Good lighting in room. Good breakfast, but very crowded.
Check-in reception was poor, not welcoming, friendly or informative.
Decor is okay, but tired in places, and warn carpets in walkways.
The hotel is a long way from shops & eateries - about 3/4 hr walk away. Hotel is so far away yet it could not even provide a map of Rotorura with it marked on it. The tourist information centre did! Also it did not have bus maps/details available. It seems to cater for coach loads of tourists from countries to the north who are noisy & unruly.
Wi-Fi is chargeable after 1/2 hr & only in reception area.
Shower is fixed overhead yet shower caps were not available. Had to buy one in town.
Returning to our room in the evenings we found used drinking glasses not changed or new ones were dirty. Bed made by just making neat the top cover. One pillow was too big for its case.
One evening we returned to our room and all towels removed and not replaced with clean ones. Toiletries also had not been replenished.
Laundry facilities are available. We dared not using them because both machines had wet washing left in them, and it was shredded...
Finally, it was our 40th wedding anniversary. We were particularly disappointed that there was no response from the hotel as it had been advised of it by our travel agent.
Checking out was very good.
Definitely not a hotel to be recommended.

Room Tip: Top floor, garden facing room

We recently stayed in rotorua on a holiday and we were recommended the buffet at this hotel by management if the motel we were staying at From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Sunil and he explained our options
We chose the buffet and although it was after the main sitting of tour buses all options were available and constantly being refreshed
The food was great, good selection and well presented
Thank you Sunil for making our night memorable you are a credit to the hotel

I can only comment on our meal and the service we recieved on our last night in Rotarua. Although we were not booked into the Copthorne, we decided to have dinner there, being close to our accomodation. Tia and Sunil could not do enough for us, the service was awesome and our meal delicious and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend as a place to go while in Rotarua!

We stayed here for just one night while we watched our son play league, after a 6 hour drive from home we checked in and went straight to the pool!! It was beautiful, and even though it was raining it was heated so lovely and warm and clean!!! The seating area for 'mum's' watching the kids and dad swim was lovely too!! The spa pools were amazing and a lovely way to unwind after a long trip!!! It rained the whole time we were there but the room was nice and warm, and clean, the bathroom was nice in our room and the bed was too die for, didn't want to get up in the morning!!! The staff We saw were really nice and friendly and check in was easy!! Free parking is a bonus as you have to pay when We stay in Australia so I thought I would mention that!! We went out that night but came back in time for a night swim, which was gorgeous aswel!! We always look for a hotel with a pool and because it was cold we weren't expecting to be able to use it so it was an absolute bonus that this one was heated!!! The pool closes at 10pm at night so we went swimming first then went out and got dinner, the room doesn't have plates but it does have cups for a coffee and wine glasses, that are real glass and done up in plastic to stay clean!! We just got plates from the restaurant in town and ate in our room, would be nice if they have plates and cutlery etc but I guess they try and encourage you to eat at the restaurant which is fair enough!! The bed was lovely, we had 2 doubles for us and our daughter and both were really comfy!! And the shower in the morning was really nice and hot and strong, we had one last swim in the morning in the beautiful pool and really didn't want to leave!! We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but the eating areas looked really nice and clean, next time we will definitely have cocktails by the pool!! We will definitely be back again next time we are in Rotorua and hopefully for longer!!
