“Loved it !”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Great place, Helpful and friendly staff. We loved the warm 29 degrees pool. Delicious breakfast. Nicely fitted rooms. Nice price. Good central location, yet very close to the lakeside, where there are walking paths. We will definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Our room was a standard double, but had everything there.

We are happy that you "loved it" too and that it was a great place to stay with helpful & friendly staff. Do come back again, I'm sure there are many more interesting walking paths to try out.
Kind Regards

Now I understand that Rotorua's environmental conditions must place special stresses on people trying to manage buildings, but in the case of the Millenium Hotel it must go down as a place to stay where the staff try to make up for the failings of the building.

Everything about the place - once you get outside the grand entrance and bar area is older and tireder than you expect. It desperately needs a re-fresh. Even the little touches currently let it down - "you've been upgraded to a lake view room with balcony" should make you happy and give you something to enjoy, until you find that the "balcony is a 6 foot by 2 foot concrete slab with no chair or table to enjoy it. Best you don't look up at the rusting steel beams either!!

Even the hotel's layout lets it down - the pool looked lovely, and very inviting - except I didn't fancy doing my lengths before 06:30 when the poolside area is given over to the breakfast buffet; and then from 18:45 it is again out of bounds for the cultural show... strange way to maximise use of the pool!!

Room Tip: lakeview rooms worth having for the view, if not the "balcony"

Thank you for posting your feedback and yes the sulphur in our environment does pose certain challenges. I can advise we do have continuous maintenance programme in place and likewise we have planning underway for a rooms refresh and also some upgrading of our public spaces.
Thank you again for your comments. Kind regards.

We were very pleased with out two nights stay. Location was spot on, just a short walk away from shops and Civic Centre. The spa pool and heated pool were an added attraction. Breakfast was included in our room deal, the choice of food was your typical buffet style selection. We will return to this hotel again. Found the staff very helpful and went that extra mile. The room was fine, bed comfortable, new flat screen TV. Bathroom big, shower fine, towels were soft and fluffy, quality toiletries were supplied.

We are a group of four and we spent a night in the hotel. Staff service was not proactive. We were just handed the room keys and told where the room was. I have to ask the time for breakfast, where the dining place was, and even have to bring my own luggage back to my own room. She didn't even bother to ask if I needed a bell hop to help us with our luggage. The shower head in the room was a failure, as we could not adjust the strength of the water coming out from the shower head. The letch for the towels were old and rusty, the overall outlook of the room appears to look old. Lucky for us it was only a short one night stay. I would most likely consider other hotels on my next visit.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on Trip Advisor. I have noted all your comments in regard to your recent stay and have followed up with each of the departments concerned. I am dissapointed the staff were not more helpful during your check in, as this is definitely not the level of service we aim for or normally deliver. I hope the remiander of your travels in New Zealand went well and hope you get to return to our wonderful country again in the future. Kind Regards.

We stayed for two nights - on arriving early the hotel staff we delighted to see us and provided our room without any problems. We stayed in room 4305 which seemed to be a long way from the dinning/bar area. The hotel has fantastic facilities - indoor thermally heated pool and a great bar area. The spa pool area is also wonderful. Breakfast was part of our deal with the hotel and it was very well presented with lots of choices and fresh breakfast food available to eat. The staff worked very hard and deserve praise for their effort to seat, serve and look after the large number of guests eating right next to the pool. Te hotel seemed to be very warm but I suppose that is better than being cold - we just turned the air conditioner off for the night. Parking was easy and free and the only negative was the cost of internet. There was a minimal amount available in the hotel lobby and a couple of "hotel' computers available at a charge. As we have stayed here often we recommend the hotel although it does need some little things to be upgraded. It is very central to the middle of town.

Thank you for returning to stay with us again and though a short two night stay, pleased you were able to enjoy the fantastic facilites including the Spa area. I have also passed your feedback on to our team who are always happy to recieve positive geusts comments. I also note you mentioned the hotel was rather warm and can advise we have lowered our heating levels as we move towards the summer months. We look forward to welcoming you back again.
Kind Regards.

The Staff were nice. There is only WiFi in the lobby for a short amount of time, then you must pay for it. The bed was just OK as were the pillows. The bathroom is average, not really big. The room was average size and really not much of a view, but there really isn't much to see. It is a small town. The Hotel is within easy walking distance to shopping and food. The housekeeping staff were always so nice and gave you a smile and spoke to you. The Front Desk Staff people were great too. Not a great value for the price they charge. But, I think most of the places around there are the same.

Room Tip: Looks great on the outside and the Front Lobby. Rooms need to be updated

This is my second stay at the Millennium Rotorua. The first one was ok not excellent and the same mediocrity has continued. The staff are great - housekeeping team smiled and couldn't be more pleasant, prompt or willing to help. Check in and restaurant staff do the place proud. That's why I came back. The rooms however are overdue for a make over. The furniture in them is so well used there is little left of the original varnish left. Flat screen tvs - great. Bathroom was really nice though the shower over the bath a bit cramped - having the soap holder half way down the wall restricts movement in a shower/ bath situation.
Breakfast is ok. In fact the hotel is ok.. nothing startling which is a danger when you have so much choice in Rotorua.

Room Tip: ask for a queen or king and try not to have a room on level one - they seem to put the families here
