“Comfortable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2010

We spent one night here and found the room excellent value for money. The room looked out onto a courtyard area and was extremely comfortable.

The 2 receptionist at desk were pretty professional, 4Stars for them. I love the new look of the room, the bed is nice, big and firm, wierd place for an Air Con' but it does its job One thing though I noticed, the rubbish bin under the working desk was not emptied from previous guests; and there no bin liners for the bins, I know we all going green but it looks so unhygenic (unhealthy) with a tissue in the bottom of the bins. Sorry I am not complaining, I am only expressing my feeling.

The caucasian male behind the desk when we checked out did an unpleasant act, there was a lady infront of us checking out by him, my husband & I heard him asking the lady if she had used anything from the MiniBar, so he took her answer as
no. And there was our turn, he asked the same question to us and we said NO, so he did'nt take our no for an answer he immediately on his walky talky to the MiniBar attendant to double check whether was there any MB used in such & such room. We found it so disgusting & racist because we are not the same color skin.
Front Of House employee should be very cautious of what they do, say & especially your expression it goes a long way.

Room a little tired (cobwebs on the windows and stained wooden window sills. Cupboard doors coming off hinges. Could definitely find better for the money. I used the gym and the pool very nice and clean.

Positives:
- Quiet and clean
- Away from central hustle and bustle
- Some views of lake from upstairs rooms
-Free parking

Negatives:
-This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
-Staff unfriendly: Upon arrival there was one person behind desk, no acknowledgement of our arrival, stood there for 10 minutes while he dealt with other people and then he said I will be with you in a minute.
-Small crammed room. Looks deceptively nice from the outside. What a disappointment!!!!
- Decor very dated and dark.
- Although the room had a veranda, could not stand opening the door because the area stunk.
- Some glimpses of the lake but quite far away. Not worth the upgrade.
- Rooms quite a distance from reception/lobby area. This was quite a problem as I travelled with a family member with a disability.
- No free internet.

Millenium is a nice place to stay, the rooms etc were very clean. We stayed in a room with 2 double beds, and the bathroom was quite small and so was the room, but then again it was clean so it was not that bad. On one of the nights i needed some extra pillows and the housekeeping service was prompt, but then another night i needed some tea and coffee, it never arrived. The lifts are a bit funny so we all prefered to take the stairs each time. The lobby is nice but a little uninviting with the staff. Not bad for the price i must say and good location with parking etc. The gym was rather enjoyed my teens as they could not stop going on about how equiped it was. - medicine balls, treadmills, skipping rope, cross trainer, spin bike etc. We never actually got to go in the pool as on some nights a show is on, so the pool is closed between 6.30pm to 8.30pm. There was good air conditioning and heater system in the room. and if you need to fill up drinkbottles there is a little filter in the lobby available for use.
I hope this was helpful. It would have been nice if there was free interent like the novotel, but the internet system there was $2 for 20 minutes

We stayed for two nights in this hotel. It is centrally located, looks very nice from the outside and has beautiful reception area. however the room turned out to be very small. The bathroom was the worst surprise - it was really old, with rusty pipes and some small green fungus on the shower. Maybe it is a problem all around Rotorua as it is quite moisty and smelly there everywhere, however, for us such a bathroom was definitely inacceptable. We had a room on the first floor with a terrace to the lake side - it was nice but nothing special, as there is no real view of the lake. The location was quite, but the walls were quite thin so some noise from other rooms/corridor could be disturbing.
The breakfast was very delicious, with a broad selection. Hotel reception personel quite "cold". They were polite, but very impersonal. Overall, we would not stay in this hotel again during our next visit to Rotorua.

We stayed two nights at the Millenium and were happy with our choice but wouldn't rush back. We had a good view of the lake and the location was close to the main sights and shopping strip. As others have noted, the reception staff are frosty and unhelpful (but the porters are extremely helpful and friendly). Rooms were clean and comfortable but not particularly stylish. We recommend staying on the Club floor (5th floor) as it is worth the extra charge as it includes a bar area and complimentary drinks and snacks in the evenings (5-7pm). This was very welcome because we had missed lunch while travelling and so it is an ideal place to chill out before heading off for dinner. One minus was the tv which was always on in the Club but this is a personal bugbear and so unlikely to annoy others. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night which was terrible despite the generally positive reviews we had read elsewhere. The staff were very friendly and nice but know nothing about food or wine. Despite coming over to chat to us every 10 minutes, it never occured to them to top up our wine or ask why my meal was almost untouched. My partner's lamb dish was reasonable but my pizza was terrible (cold, and far too cheesy). We had a wonderful meal at Bistro 1284 on Fenton street and so would recommend going there instead. The gym is large and better than most hotel gyms. We both had facials at the hotel spa and the facials were good but not outstanding. Internet use $2 per half hour (should have been free on the Club level). Good but not special.
