Room was spacious and comfortable, and service was friendly and adequate. Very handy to central Rotorua with lots of things to do both at Hotel and within the CBD. Pools were good and met our needs. Only improvement point the standard of food at Buffet was a little disappointing. Prawns were frozen and hard to eat. Would have been nice to have ham off the bone as well.
Happy customers though

The hotel has a great location and is close to local shops and a short walk to many restaurants. Some rooms have views over the lake , ours had a view of the mountains. Great base to do some family activities as it is fairly central to all the attractions, furthest would have been about an hours drive. The rooms were comfortable and had all that is required for a pleasant stay. Breakfast was in the restaurant downstairs and was reasonably priced and had a great selection. Matariki maori cultural show was next door so very convenient. Staff on the front desk were helpful as we ended up extending our stay and they were able to move things around so we could stay in the same room even though there was a conference on. Overall the stay was good and would definately stay there again.

This hotel has a great location, just steps from the lake itself and near to a great choice of bars and restaurants. The town museum is highly recommended and just a 5 minute walk away. The room itself was typically Novotel and quite large although it's a high traffic hotel and it shows as it's definitely looking a little tired.

The pool was very small and we didn't try the restaurant, given the proximity to so many others. The hotel has a hall that offers Maori evenings and the show and hangi was very good.

There's a laundry thate made good use of, having beaten the coach parties and that really is the main downside as these large, corportae hotels cater very much for that market. However, apart from having to carve our way through the lobby a few times, we weren't inconvenienced and the car park is enormous.

Ypu get free minutes of wi-fi in the lobby and ther are also a couple of free terminals, if you can fight your way to them - see above!

Overall, we liked it here and would recommend it as a great base from which to explore this thermal area.

Thank you for your review. Obviously a seasoned traveller, it was great to see you went to 'Matariki Maori Hangi & Concert' - we think the best presentation of Maori song & action dance in Rotorua!

This hotel was in a great location for going out and exploring Rotorua. Parking on site was free and the room was clean and comfortable. Also, we purchased their $80 combo deal from reception that gave us a Maori cultural evening, ride on the SkyRide gondola and luge pass, 30 minute thermal spa and discounts to the hotel restaurant and bar.

Room Tip: Lakeview Rm: definitely worth paying the bit xtra

You can't beat the Novotel for location; it's right by the pedestrianised area with loads of places to eat and opposite a park and the lake. However, location isn't enough. The rooms are looking really tired now, and our mattress was virtually V shaped. The pillows sank away to nothing too. Worryingly, electrical appliances were well overdue for their test (June and August 2010). Possibly the most telling thing of all was the lack of Feedback cards in the room. We requested that this be emailed to us, but this hasn't happened. We'll be looking at B+Bs for our next weekend away.
