Novotel Rotorua Lakeside

Haven't stayed here for a while. Check-in was a breeze and staff were friendly and welcoming.

Stayed in junior suite which was pretty underwhelming. Both sleeping area and living area were tiny and felt a little cramped in. Room was a bit dark too. Comfy bed and nespresso machine was a nice touch. Sofa bed was excellent for travelling with kids.

Indoor pool area was pretty cramped too and pool small. Not ideal for families.

Location excellent right in city centre.

Overall still a good option for the business traveller but maybe not so for the vacationer.

At Novotel Rotorua we strive to provide the highest quality product offering and service to our valued guests, we seem to have fallen short of this on this occasion and for that I apologize.

Probably 4 star with a great location right in the centre of things. However there were many aspects of this hotel which were not up to scratch, stained carpets, toilets that did not flush properly, poor cleaning around the bed edge, damaged walls and tiles, curtains off the rail and I could go on. All small things really but adding up to a lot. The hotel needs refurbishment or at least a makeover.
Staff were pleasant enough although there didn't seem to be many of them.
Free car parking, limited WiFi and free natural hot water spa baths helped.
Quite reasonably priced for what you get.
We would probably try somewhere else next time I think.

Good location near dining in Rotorua, and nice common areas but the the rooms and carpets inside need to be refreshed. For a place that prides itself on hot springs, the hotel had a variable supply of hot water and the toilet water exploded with some crazy sounds in the middle of the night which would have been a disaster were it not for the closed lid! Service staff were friendly and the breakfast was good, however the Novotels have a ridiculous internet policy of 50MB/30mins per 24hrs free in the lobby only, and room internet was way overpriced which is unacceptable in 2014. Overall, worst two nights we spent in in NZ.

We were there for New Years eve, and spent 2 nights.
Very friendly team.
Great location for all of the festivities, for 'Eat Street', walks to the lake and the government gardens.
Rooms are slightly worn, clean, nice and clean.
None opening windows (I get a little claustraphobic)
Fantastically comfy beds and pillows!

This modern hotel is situated next to a park and lake which make for very pleasant views throughout the day and evening. Staff are friendly and very willing to help. Eat Streat is located within a couple of minutes walk where you will find any number of restaurants, bars and cafes to meet any taste. Thursday evenings there is a night market about two city blocks from the hotel where you can buy local gifts, handcrafts and finger food.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view of the lake
