I was collected from my hotel by the bus where our host chattered NONSTOP to and from the site.

It’s better than nothing, but the experience felt like an attraction at Cancun with the en mass ‘fun factory’ feel. Very commercial, very superficial, a bit Hollywood.

I think the experience is best suited for families with tween-age kids.

I found myself focusing more on the establishment’s logistical handling an crowd control feats more than the content of the Village.

For a tourist attraction we thought it was extremely well done. As long time New Zealand residents having been involved with Maori Culture we still enjoyed it and our overseas visitor thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It was well organized and the staff were exceptionally helpful to our visitor who was suffering a disability. It is very difficult to please everyone, but overall we felt the staff in every facet of the evening tried really hard to entertain and please people.

As it is run by one family, you are really taken into their midst and you feel very welcomed, appreciated and special when they share their traditions, songs and life with you. It really is an amazing experience that must be had. And the Hangi food is so great!!!

We loved this experience from start to finish. Got picked up and taken on a coach with a very entertaining coach driver, had an introductory welcome to the village (as a traditional one would have been like) and then were told more about the traditional Maori culture, including seeing the Haka being performed, we went to see our dinner being pulled out of the ground by its traditional cooking method and then tucked into a tasty feast. All in all one of the more pricey activities we did but, despite being maybe a little too busy and packed, we really enjoyed the experience.
