“Wonderful day out for all ages”
Reviewed 2 September 2014

I took a group of 20 all over the age of 75 and they loved it. A gentle walk to view most of the animals. The opportunity to get up close and personal with two lion cubs. The excellent picnic spot. It all made for a very pleasant day out.

“I Love This Place”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

I had fond memories of a place I visited almost 15 years ago, so I was thrilled to find that Paradise Valley was still my most favourite attraction in Rotorua. It's great to wander around and feed the animals in such a relaxing, pristine environment....and YES...you can still pat lions! The staff were friendly and informative. What a great place to visit!

“Cuddle the lions”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Nice zoo where kids can cuddle the lion cubs.
There is a nice nature walk with springs.
Restaurant limited choice, just microwave pies.

“Great experience”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

We mainly went to see the lion cubs, thinking they were going to be relatively small however they are now 11months old and aren't available for public interaction. A bit of a let down however the lion feeding experience was awesome. The most active I've seen lions at any zoo I've been to. They came right up to the fence (seperated by a wired and electric fence) and stood no more than a metre away from you at times. Simply amazing.

The rest of the park was pretty average. There were thousands of trout and a few random farm animals but they were all in enclosures so the whole 'hand feeding' experience is a bit boring.

Overall I'd recommend the park but only at lion feeding time.

“Great place for family time”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

We really enjoyed our visit to Paradise Valley Springs, Awesome walking around the place and enjoying the peace and tranquility. The Ngongahata is rich with Trout and this place captures that with tthem swimming freely in the river and pools for all to see. Great place to take children and the Lion pen is worth walking around a couple of times. Cafe is basic so don't expect any gourmet food however the coffee is ok, I would recommend that you take your own food and enjoy a picnic in the outside garden area. Don't forget to take an empty bottle because you can fill it with the great tasting spring water when you reach that spot. Its a hidden gem worth a look
