“SAW 1st KIWI BIRD”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

On a limited time frame so took the Kiwis behind the Scenes tour. The guide was very passionate as she spoke about the kiwi's. The one hour tour flew by and we were very lucky to see a staff member weigh and check a little one out. Would of liked to see more of the centre as the map showed alot of interesting sites. So worth a stop.

Thank you for taking a kiwi tour, and for taking the time to post your thoughts about your visit.
The cost for the tour you took is a donation to the charitable trust that runs our kiwi facility so along with learning all about the kiwi, you have helped us to help them!
Thanks again!

“Great opportunity to see kiwi bird”
Reviewed 25 February 2014 via mobile

We were pretty tired for this tour as we did it after the Mitai Maori village dinner, at night time, however we did find it interesting. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw 2 kiwi birds, so it was a worthwhile experience for me. Also got to see a gorgeous kea parrot, Jenny.

Thank you for your review.
Our Mitai combo is very popular and offers a guided tour around the park at the completion of your Mitai cultural evening.
Great that you saw a kiwi and that you got to meet "our" Jenny - she is certainly a character.
Wishing you safe travels and we hope to see you back in the park again some day!

“Ok but not as good. I had expected”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

A visit here was pre organised but I was not overly impressed. Some good exhibits of NZ birds animals and imported fish trout and also some Australian reptiles. Probably one for The kids especially given the unlimited free rides on the dinosaur boat ride.

“Great tour, good experience”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

During our recent cruise holiday around New Zealand, our second port of call was Tauranga, where we had decided to do a shore excursion to Rainbow Springs and Waiotapu.

The group we were in received a tour guide who took us around the park and was very knowledgeable.

As we were limited for time, we didn't get a chance to see the whole park, but spent most time looking at the trout ponds and the kiwi's.

Would love to go back and spend a bit more time there. I would recommend this more for families and particularly those with small kids, as they have some amazing viewing areas partly underwater to view the trout.

“Amazing tour guide.”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

This place is really cool and gives a lot of insight into New Zealand wildlife--specifically the kiwi. I was with a large group, so we had a guided tour. The tour guide went out of his way to show us some baby kiwis that had just hatched. It was an experience that is rarely shown to anyone, and he was nice enough to share it with us. Amazing.

They also have a variety of things that are better suited for children, but there is enough to keep adults entertained as well. I would recommend stopping in if you get the chance.
