Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

Wow wow really loved this place only bummer we couldn't stay longer as they shut.If we had more time would have diffidently brought the upgrade ticket to visit night and day! Amazingly done they are very cute we saw all 3 even frosty who apparently rarely comes out even for the staff! Patai was the the cutest stomping her feet around as she walked up and down her front fence! We will come again and send our mates to visit a must while in rotorua!!!

“Lovely wildlife park”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

We visited while staying in Rotorua recently and had a lovely morning despite the rain!

Enjoyed strolling around looking at all the wildlife and feeding the fish. Our 2.5 year old especially loved being able to throw food to the fish and ducks. Enjoyed catching some of the feeding times of the animals also. Seeing some kiwis was also very exciting!

The big splash ride was definitely the highlight. A very cool ride, very informative and lots of fun. If it hadn't of started raining so hard I think our son would have wanted to spend the rest of the day going around and around!

The cafe was nice and warm, and coffee was good. There is a huge playground by the cafe but as it was raining we didn't get to try it out, but it looked like lots of fun!

Also loved the giant animal figures around the park with a button to press. They then 'Talked' and shared information with you. Such a cool idea!!

Thanks!
We love that you made the most of the park despite what Mother Nature can throw at us sometimes with the weather!
Here's to hoping you can make it back some day soon to try the flying fox on the playground and ride the Big Splash again.
Safe Travels!

“Kiwi convervation centre”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

This is the most successful kiwi conservation centre. But hardly to see the kiwi as they only have few kiwi to watched in a very dark room.

Hello there,
You are right - we are the most succesful breeding centre in New Zealand for our endangered kiwi. Every year we hatch and raise over 100 kiwi!
We do have 3 kiwi on display during the day and as they are nocturnal animals, they are in a darkened room. We do provide additional coloured lighting to help our guests to see the birds. There are another 3 kiwi that are on display in our night time open-air enclosure which is included in your ticket price.
We would like to discuss your visit with you if your are open to this. We are interested in seeing what we could do to have made your visit a better one.
Please contact us on info@rainbowsprings.co.nz

Thanks for taking the time to review the park.

“Kiwi's!”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We stopped by with one purpose, to see a real live kiwi. I was encourged by the fact that Raonbow spings is a consevation park. They had loads of info about kiwi's, for instance I had no idea there were 5 different kinds! We chose to do the encounter even though it was winter and there were no chicks. As much as I would love to have seen a chick the guide was interesting and hearing and seeing made the facts much easier to digest than all the reading we'd tried previously. Best of all we saw three kiwis in their nocturnal enclosures then after dark we were able to return and see two more in their outside enclosures. Sadly photos were not allowed but it was one of the highlights of our trip for sure. Oh and the rest of the park was pretty and there was stuff to do for the kids so I'd absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone.

Hello there,
Thanks so much for the positive review and for choosing the Kiwi Encounter tour option. It is certainly an excellent way to gain a deeper understanding about our amazing kiwi, and to help the National Kiwi Trust in their work to help save them!
Hope to see you back here again some day!

THANKS!
We appreciate the time it takes to post a review and we love that you made the most of all the park has to offer.
The bird show is constantly improving and changing and the Big Splash is great fun to ride multiple times. We work hard to keep the park looking pristine and to display our wonderful native animals to the public.
Thanks for the visit and we hope to see you again soon.
