Amazing place to visit. Not best suited to younger children who might find the sulphur overpowering and a lot of walking

“A fabulous attraction”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

This place was a great way to spend a morning. We turned up for the 10.15 geyser eruption and listened to a very informative talk about it's beginnings and how it all worked. Fascinating and she erupted to order!
Then we walked every route in the park for 2 hours inc the mud pools. Very cold and foggy start to the day but the sun came out for the last 20 minutes so we retraced our steps to get better photos. Very well planned and laid out. Maybe a small coffee stop somewhere would help those who struggle with long walks.
A very enjoyable time, highly recommended. Wear walking shoes or boots as there's a lot of ground to cover

“Fascinating”

An excellent trip, with magnificent colours in the water due to the geothermal activity. The geyser is set off with soap powder, to ensure it was seen.

“Excellent geo-thermal experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

For those wishing to experience a true New Zealand wonder, this is one of the best places to visit, with the Lady Know geyser, boiling mud pools, craters and thermal pools. Access is easy and you don't have to be super fit to complete the walk around the entire complex. A word of warning, the Lady Knox geyser erupts each day at 10.15am and during the cooler months, the geyser and indeed the thermal park can be completely shrouded in fog, viewing the geyser is not a problem, but if you are planning on doing the park straight after the geyser, you may be disappointed as there is a blanket of fog restricting viewing until such time as the sun appears and burns off the fog, generally around 11.00am. Staff at the Centre are extremely friendly and helpful and they go out of their way to offer any assistance, on the day that I attended, I was ably assisted by three wonderful women, Helen, Janet and Camille, I cannot speak highly enough of their professionalism.
