Can't complain at all. The hot pools were lovely after a days walking. It was sold to us as lake front but clearly isn't but that was an I-site mistake. Friendly staff who were helpful in finding somewhere good for dinner.

At the time of our trip we were a family of 3, with a child of 4. We booked the hotel from our home city, and discovered as we arrived at the site that we were upgraded to a bigger room, all the better!
The cabin / site is a trifle far from the naked bus stop (40 mns by walking), there is no shuttle or facility to reach the place from the centre. If you are not driving this is not a great locatiin.
There is no cleaning service if you stay for more than 1 night, but you do not have access to a broom or other tool to clean up by yourself.

The room was not very clean when we arrived.

The heated swimming pool was a bit cold, a bit suprising as we were under a geothermal activity.

Booking for excursions was not a lucky experience, as the lady at the reception did not have access to reliable companies for reaching attractions such as the wai o tapu or waimangu valley.

Close to the site is a nice grocer and butchery which is a saver if on a budget.

The receptionist allowed us to leave the cabin in the mkrning y leaving the keys in the cabin, which i appreciated as we needed to head to the bus stop early in the morning.

Sofa and bed seemed to have had a long life behind them, the springs were probably very old as we did not rest too well.

There is an access to the rotorua lake and to children games, which my son liked, including a swing. It is possible to rent a dvd player and a limited selection of dvds which is coming handy when you wish to make a little child busy on a very rainy day.

The price was quite expensive, more than on other cities we ve been innew zealand, with a similar or greater level of service.

It is always difficult for anyone arriving in an unfamiliar new destination, we provide helpful advise on request. Arriving can be more challenging when you are on foot, accompanied by a 4 year old child with all your baggage to transfer as well. What is normally a 20 minute walk for a backpacker with a tent, unhappily became a 40 minute hike for you. Had you notified us in advance of your arrival that you would be arriving of foot, our staff would have been more than happy to arrange a taxi to meet you. A cheap and short trip.
The tourist office, located at the bus stop, could if requested have arranged a taxi or pointed you to the local bus service which runs from the city centre to the end of our street for little more than $2.
Our swimming pool is heated and maintained at between 24 and 26 degrees during the season, however this could be perceived as being cold by guests who live in Singapore and happened to be staying with us during cyclone Lusi. Our natural hot pools, open every day are maintained between 38 and 42 degrees centigrade.
Self catering rooms have simple cleaning equipment provided, however guests wanting to clean up bigger messes are welcome to call in to the office and request additional equipment or services. We are a friendly place and encourage guests to consult us about any problems at the time of stay so that we can provide the best service possible and improve any situation to the best of our abilities.

It was a cool place, there were a few thermal pools to relax in and apparently the ground will heat your tent if you are on the right site, but because we didn't end up arriving till about 11pm, we thought maybe we could get a late check out to compensate for not really getting the chance to enjoy the park the night before. When I asked management, he said the owner would give him a talking to if he let anyone stay past 10 am. considering the park was empty when we left and no new arrivals had begun to come in yet, this just seemed a bit unfair, considering we paid full price for the site and obviously another hour on that site wouldn't have killed their trade. In closing, I would recommend getting there with enough daylight to fully enjoy your stay.

We are sorry that you arrived too late to enjoy our additional guest facilities. We encourage all guests to arrive in good time whilst our office is open. Guests should try to arrive by 8 pm in order to experience our extra facilities and minimise any arrival noise disturbance for other guests. Additional guest facilities are closed from 10 pm. We have a noise curfew from 10 pm, Campervans and tents arriving after this hour can be disturbing to neighbours who have settled down for the night
I agree that my staff could have adopted a more lenient attitude, however the extra facilities such as the hot pools are closed from 10 am for draining, cleaning and refilling ready for new guest arrivals from mid day. As you say yourself " In closing, I would recommend getting there with enough daylight to fully enjoy your stay, " then you would have time to experience our service and facilities as enjoyed and rated highly by the previous reviewer.

We turned up early evening in 2 campers and they were very accommodating finding us a power pitch next to each other. We were pleasantly surprised by the additional facilities with hot pools, a hot water beach, steam oven, and swimming pool. We stayed for 2 nights and found it easy to walk into town and explore the thermal area.

We stayed here for one night and we looked for a campsite to actually enjoy the facilities. This campsite had it all, hot thermal pools, outdoor pool, steam hangi to cook your dinner, boiling mud pools and close to the water.
It was reasonably priced and the kitchen facilities we're clean and adequate.
Our only problem was there was a large school group staying which we're noisy and rude. They played football against our van and were up most of the night. Can't be helped but a shame as it did spoil the night.
The reception staff are extremely helpful and even gave us a discount on a trip we wanted to do the next day. Would recommend a stay here.

Regrettably, we only stayed a night in their private cottage. Full kitchen, BBQ and hangi available. 2min walk to beach where you can dig about 2feet in the sand and get hot bubbling water filling a hole for your own person hot tub. Wonderful staff on site that have been running his place for years attracting wonderful guests.

Spent a dreadful night at a different campsite in Rotorua and decamped to this one the following day. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location. Lovely little thermal pools. The 'dig your own pool on the beach option' looked a bit grotty but that really isn't the campsites fault. Didn't try the Hangi but liked the quirky nature of this extra option. Would be happy to stay here again. (Powered site option)
