“We would love to stay again!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

Mike and Peter are wonderful hosts. They helped us plan our activities and even made dinner reservations for us at the Skyline. The recommendations they gave us were great. Their place is very cozy, clean and nice. The beds were so comfy and the heated blankets helped in the winter. We enjoyed breakfast as well. We would love to stay again.

Thank you so much for the glowing review. It was a pleasure having you stay. We are pleased you enjoyed your time in New Zealand, especially as it was winter and the weather was not behaving for you at times. Hope to see you again sometime.

My wife and I spent 3 and a half weeks in NZ visiting both the north and south Island. Our best stay was with Mike and Peter. Best service, best company, best breakfast (real fruit and yummy eggs). They helped us plan our days so that we were able to get the most out of our time there. They have great relationships with local vendors that resulting in some discounts for us, and their location is close to town. We have never posted on TripAdvisor before but felt like this particular homestay deserved some attention. Stay there. Its a good value and lots of fun.

This home-stay is located just a few minutes walk from Rotorua city centre and close to many shops, bars and restaurants. Our room was nicely-decorated room with ensuite, sliding door to garden and spa areas, comprehensive tea/coffee/snacks and a well-stocked refrigerator including fresh milk, beer, wines and water.

Hosts Mike and Peter are extremely knowledgable about what to see and do in the local area and are keen to ensure you make the most of your Rotorua stay.

The garden and spa areas are very well designed and maintained, completely private and the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a busy sightseeing schedule.

The breakfasts each morning offered fresh fruits, juices and cereals and also a cooked breakfast which was completely different each morning. We really appreciated the in-room guest folder full of city information and a comprehensive selection of local restaurant menu’s and prices.

We booked for 2 nights and had such a good time that we extended for an extra day. Lots of ‘attention to detail’ here. A top-quality experience which we intend to repeat!

Don’t miss the large open park directly opposite containing some interesting thermal activity - steam bores, bubbling mud-holes and soothing foot spas.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It was certainly great having you stay here with us and it is wonderful to have such receptive guests wanting to know more about Rotorua and the thermal environment. When lovely guests such as yourselves leave we always feel you leave as a friend. It would be wonderful to host you again in the future when you come down to New Zealand again. M&P

Mike & Peter were great hosts for our stay in Rotorua. They made it feel like a home away from home. Their attention to detail was superb - comfortable room, clean spa and great breakfast. The B&B is centrally placed and within walking distance of the town centre. They also gave us all the local tourist information and restaurant recommendations (including one of the best Indian meals we've had!). We would heartily recommend it, and hope to go back some day.

Mike & Peter gave us all the info we needed to make our time in Rotarua the best ever. We had a great location & could walk everywhere. The room was comfortable & the breakfast was amazing. We didn't have to eat again till dinner. This is a great place to stay & a hot tub at the end of the day was the best. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. We had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: The room closest to the hot tub is smaller, but the bath is in the room, so it's more convenient...

I got off the bus from Matamata, expecting to walk to this place, but the owners (Mike and Peter) were there to pick me up and drive me to it. And within minutes of me booking in, they had signed me up for the Canopy tour (zip lining through the trees, great fun), and an event I've been trying to go to (and prevented from attending for various reasons) on every visit to NZ... a Maori show and meal (Hangi).

My room was comfortable, and opened onto a patio area that had a hot tub, shrubs, seating, etc. Breakfast was a treat, and set me up for each day.

Town was an easy walk from this place, and across the road was Kuirau Park with its steaming pools. A nice walk through here took me to Ohinemutu village. Quiet, lovely to see, and with even more steam.

I can heartily recommend Rotorua City Homestay.
