“Good Value & Service”
Reviewed 27 June 2011

We stayed for 2 nights, 1 adult, 2 teens and a 4yr old. The hotel was in a clean condition, the outdoor heated pool was fantastic and the cooked breakfast very basic. Staff are friendly. It was great to have electric blankets on all beds and lights with dimmers for each bed as well to keep everyone happy. The bathroom was very spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. The playground being on the opposite side of the property from the family rooms was a little inconvenient but all in all we enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: Families - stay close to the pool!

I had stayed here some 5yrs ago and had found it good value at the time.
This trip thought to checkout an old favorite, only to be VERY disappointed. The Spa studio was spacious with a private mineral spa. As others have said here, the decor is like going back to the 70's.The sofa was old, torn with some horrible stains that defy the imagination.
The linens & towels etc were all new and nice. The bed was comfortable and gave us a good night sleep.
The bathroom; A silly toilet paper dispenser that failed to dispense offered cheap nasty Chinese 3rd grade toilet paper. Ugh!The dispenser ultimately fell off after trying to get paper out.
It appears that it is under Chinese management so standards have dropped and more appropriate for the chinese tourists who arrived by the bus loads. Very noisy and lots of smoking.
I can get this crap back in China. Not what I expected in NZ.
My honest opinion.... Make a better choice.

We are sorry for any inconveniece.
We should have offered you a good condition unit or better solution if you would have feedbacked the unit problem to our reception once you realized there is some unbearable points. Our receptionist is friendly and helpful.
Also, all of our facilites are supplied by New Zealand distributors (included tolet paper)
Customers are our MOST important treature. We repect all our guests, no matter where they come from, no matter free indepent tourist or tourists who travelled by travel agency organized. We truely believe that we are playing an impotant cultural broker role to all these oversea tourists. No prejudgement!! We welcome everyone from anywhere to enjoy our home away from home.
We do have Qualmark 4 star which rated by New Zealand Qualmark. Our managerment are up to standard.
We thank for your feedback.

Arrived to find a shabby grubby motel unit. Certainly not like the one advertised on their web page. By no stretch of the imagination could it be called a four star motel. Goodness knows how it managed to get that rating. The spa bath in the unit had no fixtures so could not be used and there was no shower curtain. The curtains in the bathroom were mildew, shabby and dirty. The oven was dirty and the holder that held the bigger kitchen utensils was thick with dust. These are just a few of the problems and although we booked for two nights we decided to leave after only one. The final straw was going to the toilet before we left and it would not flush as it had broken. The only bright side was that when my daughter in law went to complain they gave her a partial refund. The whole experience spoiled our trip.

Do yourself a favour and stay well clear of this place. Rooms are not newly renovated as advertised. Rooms are small and tight; kitchen facilities are rubbish; towels provided were old and already frayed; and to top it off, it is located on a main road - making it very noisy at night!! Even the phone line was crap!

We booked over the phone, after reviewing their website. All looked OK. We booked a two bedroom unit, and whilst there we no photos on the website of the two bedroom unit, the other photos shown all looked OK. We now no why there are no photos of the two bedroom unit - it is absolutely disgusting. The decor is revolting, (being polite) its dark, dingy, clostropobic, & COLD COLD COLD. It's not what we expected, but thought we would tough it out. Things went from bad to worse - half the lights didn't work, the wall heater downstairs pumped out dusty smelling heat. We decided to take the children for a swim in the HEATED pool - you guessed it - it was luke warm, and in the middle of summer would have been great - we were there in the middle of winter - not so great. Don't worry I said, there are two spa pools, we'll try those - same story, luke warm. Back into the unit for a spa bath (minus the spa features) only for our son to discover the controls for the shower (over the spa bath + no curtain), and it sprayed everywhere. Enough is enough, we were going to leave (I guess there is a reason why they ask you to pay when you check in!!!). We complained at reception, and were told she would talk to management. The receptionist came to our room, and offered to upgrade us into a spa unit, at no extra cost (like they were doing us a favour). The room she showed me was far superior to the one we were in - in fact I cannot understand how, with any decency they can advertise and take money for the two bedroom unit. We moved into the spa unit - complete with cobwebs. The only thing nice about this place was the receptionist, and I think she was just embarassed.
The management of this establishment are obviously hospitality school drop outs - as their excuse was, "its must have been the previous guests" what a cop out!!
The TV is the spa unit in the bedroom only played in a lovely shade of blue! The beds were made (just), but nothing else was replenished eg: Teabags etc.
The shower head in the shower/bathroom was a disaster - you actually had a shower before you even got in - it sprayed everywhere (walls, floor, ceiling) everything other than you in the shower - you had to duck around to get wet.
Our recommendation - run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.
We have stayed in many motels in Rotorua, and this would have to be the worst by a long long shot. Wouldn't stay there again, even if you paid us to.

Headed to Rotorua with high hopes as I've stayed in various motels in the area and decided to give this one a go.
Booked over the phone for 2 nights in Anzac weekend.
We arrived to find ourselves booked for only one night, and there were no rooms available the next night due to the busy anzac time. After arriving in the average-looking room we found the spa was cold even though its thermometer read 39 degrees.
Generally unpleased with the rooms appearance and unsatisfied with the value for money we decided to check out and find somewhere else.
After debating with the motel staff, we left unwilling to pay for the nights accommodation as suggested.
They didn't charge us thankfully and we headed to the Millenium Hotel for a much nicer experience :)

Checked out this motel in the accomodation guides and the internet for a family holiday in January this year. We were looking for a 4+ star accomodation with a swimming pool for the kids.
The unit we booked was a two bedroom upstarirs/downstairs family unit with full cooking facilities and spa pool.
When we arrived in January 2007 we found the unit to be still stuck in the 70s. The ceiling was low and claustrophobic, the facilities were old and very worn, the walls were in need of at least a good paint. The kitchen facilities were in bad condition and the bathroom was full of pink 70s decor.
Ended up looking for another motel and making up a story to leave before we unpacked.
I believe that they are in the process of renovating but obviously they hadnt got to our unit yet. This was supposed to be a 4 star facility and this was reflected in the price.
Will never stay here again
