“great place to stay in rotorua”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2009

We stayed here on a recent trip to rotorua. Paul the owner was super friendly and very helpful. the hotel is well located just outside the town centre. you could probably walk to the main part of town but was a bit far with our little ones.

there is a supermarket right at the end of the road for buying provisions.

The rooms were good, perhaps getting on a bit but nice and clean with all of the facilities required. we had a bedroom plus living room; the kids stayed in the bedroom with us in the living room on the sofa beds, which were rather soft.

would definitely stay there again

As part of our travels around the North Island we were lucky we selected this motel as it turned out to be the best 4 nights we spent on holidays. Mine host Paul and his lovely wife are the best motel operators I've ever encountered on my travels. Nothing is too much trouble. From meeting you with a carton of milk to helping you sort through the hundreds of Rotorua attractions and what is the best value to getting your washing out of the dryer and folding it up for you so that you can get away to savor more of Rotorua's things to see and most of all simply remembering your names makes these people something very special in the Tourism world.

The room was spotlessly clean with a well appointed lounge and kitchenette area that even had room for a nice table and 4 chairs. The separate bedroom was cosy with room to move in. There is even a spa available where you can lie back and relax. There is a big shopping centre within walking distance as too are a number of eating establishments.

When you're next in Rotorua you could spend a fortune and stay in one of the many 5 star hotels but believe me you won't get any better service and attention to detail than you'd get staying at the Six on Union.

We stayed in this motel for 2 nights after a drive down from Auckland. Even though the place isn't a 5 star palace, the host Paul was very helpful and ensured we went to everything possible!

Our rooms were always clean and the kitchen was extra shiny. The bathrooms and bedrooms were nice, and the place was very spacious with a television and dining table. We were very impressed, as we didn't expect such a lovely motel with great service!

It was one of my favourite motels visited during my holiday to the North Island and I definitely recommend it. I haven't been to the others in Rotorua, but the brilliant service will be hard to top after the Six on Union. I felt very much at home and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Good cooking facilities, very clean, spa pool, good parking and located in a quiet area of Rotorua a few minutes from the centre of town. It's not somewhere to stay if you're looking for 5 star luxury - but if you want somewhere clean, reasonable and convenient to stay as a stopover for a couple of nights whilst sightseeing then this is a good option.

We recently had 2 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. The ground floor studio unit we had was very spacious with 2 sofa beds in the lounge and a king bed in the bedroom. The motel is lovely and clean and very well tended - there is a nice courtyard, off road parking, hot tub and a small pool area. The motel is situated close to town and shopping but in a quiet street, and is reasonably priced.

The kitchen facilities include the "shiniest "stainless steel sink and drainer I have ever seen in my life, a fridge, kettle, toaster, hob top and microwave and there is also adequate counter space and crockery to make preparing a meal easy. The lounge/dining area is big and has a glass dining table and 4 chairs as well as the sofas, TV and corner table. The bathroom is adequate with a separate toilet, shower and vanity sink - again all very clean. There is use of a laundry room with washing machine and seaparte tumble drier - $2 each and free laundry powder. After travelling around NZ for several days it was very nice to be able to both do some laundry and cook an evening meal for a change.

I can definitely recommend this motel, and can say it one one of the nicest we stayed at in our 19 days in NZ. The owners, Paul and his wife, are very nice and helpful and also apply high standards of upkeep to all of the property, which make this motel an excellent choice for a stay in Rotorua - thankyou for a very nice stay, this place is a real credit to you - and I am very pleased that of the many choices of motel available we chose yours.

really great place to stay. Owners were so friendly and helpful and it gave a real feeling of being at home. Nothing was too much trouble; owner even gave me some of his own milk when i ran out just before the office closed.

Room was big and immaculately clean. Hotel is centrally located but in a quiet residential street so it's peaceful. There's a pool which was nice and warm and a friendly dog.

Would certainly stay here again and have advised relatives who live in Rotorua to recommend this place for anyone else needing somewhere to stay.

Centrally located--we could walk to eat. Quiet street. Very nice owners. Rooms have a fridge, stove, and kitchen utensils. One nice touch--breakfast is brought to you the night before, so you can eat in your room whenever you want. If you need to leave early, you can still get your breakfast. Would be a great place for a family. Style is perfect for summer, though we stayed in late winter. Really great price on wotif, but regular price is very good thorugh thier site, too. Would definitely stay here again!
