Being a customary guest at Accor hotels, I have choosen Ibis Rotorua during my trip to NZ. A total disaster, the lobby of the hotel smells bad, the front desk attendand was unpolite, Besides being forced to pay for the whole stay in advance, the hotel retained NZ 50 per night to be returned upon departure. The front desk informed this is a normal procedure of Accor hotels, This is not true while I have stayed in at leat 20 Accor hotels before and this has never hapenned,
We do have a pre pay guarantee which is a discounted rate, but this is certainly not a forced option but a discounted rate off the current rate of the day that is beneficial to guests that want to guarantee their booking. It is an Accor worldwide policy to take a pre authorisation for all reservations, which is to cover any additional services or products purchased during the stay. This pre authorisation is then returned from the holding account if the guest’s bank once checked out.
ibis hotels are usually of the same standard. The rooms were clean and well designed. The staff were excellent and very helpful. We were able to use the nearby Novatel spas which was wonderful. There were fiv couples travelling together and we all felt it was great alue for money.
