We stayed for one night in the hotel. The location's quite nice, near the lake and walking distance to a dozen or so restaurants. The airport is also only a very short drive. We stayed there overnight only to catch a flight the next morning, so not much activity. The room itself was clean and compact, a bit tight though. As in many hotels in New Zealand that we stayed, the bathroom door doesn't have a lock! Through the night we stayed, the room smelt sulphur! The hotel's parking lot isn't pretty big, but there's enough space on the side and back to park a vehicle.

Stayed at this hotel for one night after getting a VERY cheap internet pre-pay deal.
The room was basic with 2 double beds. Generally ok but a worrying mark on the duvet! I was given the room directly opposite the lift which turned out to be pretty noisy as a tour group all left really early in the morning. The staff were friendly and helpful though.
I returned to Rotorua four days later and booked this hotel again on an internet pre-pay deal. I was given exactly the same room opposite the lift (perhaps reserved for people booking through cheap internet deals???). The mark on the duvet was still there! - the hotel definitley need to wash the ENTIRE bedding more frequently.
I would recommend this hotel as a cheap standard option in Rotorua. It's definitely worth checking out the online deals before you go.

If you are looking for very cheap accommodation Rotorura has plenty of hostels and places to crash. If you are flashpacking or need a few conveniences that a hotel offers I doubt you can do much better for the price than this hotel. The room was fairly small but had a safe, TV with cable, internet (for pay), fridge, iron, and electric kettle. I booked online and stayed here for about $55 US. The hotel is within walking distance of all the sites in Rotorua and the front desk folks are friendly enough. I would skip the $20 NZ breakfast as there are better deals to be had in a town that caters to tourists. This hotel also makes a big deal that it is very green, using the geo-thermal features of the area to heat the rooms and the water. The room was clean and the bed was nice.

It is just an OK place. It is inexpensive so how much should one expect? The room was a bit tired though, but it served its purpose.

We found this Hotel to be a better than expected Hotel in a prime position beside Lake Rotorua.

We stayed here for a family reunion during the winter. The Hotel has a quick efficient check – in, small but comfortable rooms with most of the amenities you would need for a short stay. The beds are reasonably comfortable and the Air Conditioning is very efficient as you would expect it to be in a newer Hotel. We have stayed several times in the adjoining Novotel and have found it to be an above average Novotel with a particularly good restaurant. We dined in the Novotel’s restaurant for Dinner which is a short walk undercover around the rear of the Ibis to the front of the Novotel. You just charge the meal to your room in the Ibis. We even found the breakfast in the Ibis very good and it is actually the same food you get at the Novotel for breakfast just arranged in a smaller & less visually impressive area.

All in all a much better than expected experience at an unbeatable price. I guess you could say not too dis- similar to the standard you used to get at Novotel before they went up the market a little way. Well done Ibis Rotorua!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a 12day trip around New Zealand and paid $177 NZ for 3 nights stay which was outstanding!

Rooms: Nice size with 2 double beds, tv (with Sky movies which was nice to relax after a long day sight seeing), iron, kettle, fridge bascially everything as usual. En suite bathroom was nice. Very clean and tidy, housekeeping did a good job each morning.

Location: 2 minute walk into town but then Rotorua isn't very large so everywhere is close. It was nice that it was close to the lake and there was a pizza hut right next door and a Maouri show at 6.30pm every night just behind the hotel.

Facilities: There was a lift which was great with all our luggage, bar with drinks and food available (happy hour with cheap drinks). Free parking with lots of spaces!

Overall: HIghly recommend with such great prices.
