“accomodation good internet access poor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2011

Regent need to move into the new world and stop trying to charge for internet access . Nearly every other country i travel to has moved away from this. It cost nothing to provide and you feel riped off when you may only need to 10 min access." get real and stop leaving a nasty taste in your cutomers mouth" i will not visit again

I stayed at the hotel with my husband and 3 year old daughter and we were all very very impressed. Emma was managing at the time and she and her staff, especially also Kerry from Ireland went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Every single person who worked there smiled and said hello. We ate in the restaurant one night, and that was just devine. Great menu for the little one aswell. Quick take away coffees in the morning were also excellent.

The style of the hotel is smashing. Lovely decor and a shower bigger than my bathroom at home! Comfy beds, tvs, microwaves, fridge, everything you could need.

The hotel is at the far end of the street with a lot of very good cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets. It also doesn't smell down that end of town!

Really can't say enough nice things about the place. Stay there when you visit. You won't regret it!

Our room was just a big bedroom but suited us well. Plenty of space and very comfortable be it a bit more cost than your normal motel. The staff were very accommodating and most helpful with our information requests and tour arrangements. For a classier stay, we felt this was a good choice.

Room Tip: Quiet location so downstairs was good for us

My partner and I spent 6 nights here over Easter. The service was great when it came to booking activities. Darryn booked everything quickly and any hiccups were dealt with fast. The room was nice and the bed was very comfy. The pool was good to have and the location is fantastic.

A few cons:
The thermal mineral pool is kind of dingy and doesn't fit in with the rest of the place. All the rest of the hotel has been done up to a high standard but the mineral pool is greasy and dirty in a very plain room.

The hotel website and even the in room information suggests you can get massages and spa treatment on site, there is even a room with a massage chair. In our room there was an info booklet that said "check your in room spa menu for treatments and contact reception for bookings". Well this spa menu didn't exist, when I called the desk the lady told me they just send people down the road to the Polynesian Spa, she didn't offer too book anything for us, so we trudged down there in the rain to find it fully booked.

We found it hard to sleep in as all the rooms surround the pool, which opens at 8am. We woke up to kids playing in the pool early every morning. Only really a problem if you are a late riser like us.

We found the food in the restaurant expensive, we only had breakfast but the scrambled eggs on toast was tiny for the price.

We only have been there for one night, what is a pity because the rooms are fabulous and the owners are super!
The decoration is a must and the sympathy of the staff was also very good.
The room was spacious and had everything that was needed, even had a radio-station dock for iPod.
No breakfast included in our rate, but we ate there and the food was delicious.
Outside pool, small hot pool inside and a little gym.
Very near the city centre.

You are driving through Rotorua looking for somewhere to stay and you see what looks like a traditional motel on Pukaki Street. You park up, go in and realise that this is anything but traditional.
This hotel is a credit to owner and manager, Daryn. The welcome is customarily open, as you come to expect in NZ, but Daryn is beyond just friendly. He goes out of his way to find out what you want to do while you are staying and arranges dinner and day trips from a huge array of options. Throughout our stay he was available for anything we needed, chatting to us at drinks and meals, but without ever bordering on being obtrusive.
Throughout the accommodation, Daryn has decorated in a style that we loved. It's modern and stylish, and just a tiny bit quirky, so it was boutiquey without being formulaic.
The breakfast was wonderful - we voted the corn pancakes our best breakfast of our 2 month trip across 3 continents! The dinner menu is very nice, without being exceptional, and it comes with a comprehensive and, to our tastes, delicious wine list.
There is free internet throughout.
As soon as we left we were already missing Daryn himself and his charming, comfortable and characterful hotel. It's a credit to the man and a wonderful place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are high standard
