I cannot recommend this place highly enough - it's terrific value for money and offers an independence you won't find at a hotel or B&B, and comfort and convenience you'll never see at a motel.
East West has a range of accommodation options. We like to stay in their apartments - three bedroom flats that are wonderfully well set up - spacious, clean and private. If you are a large group of friends and /or family, this is an ideal option. We had an apartment with a lovely little garden, hot tub, patio and barbecue, as well as excellent kitchen and laundry facilities (although a dryer would be helpful). The rooms were suitable for disabled people, and children are catered for - books and kids' dvds are provided. The place is modern and relaxing, and very warm in the crisp Rotorua winter (the place is heated through Rotorua's natural thermal activity). The location is central and walking distance to several supermarkets and the central shopping district. Kristin and Stuart are knowledgeable and helpful about Rotorua, and are super friendly.
But here's what sets this place apart: they really care. Our last visit was as a family to arrange and attend a funeral. Obviously a tremendously sad occasion. Kristin offered us reduced rates, and even went so far as to make us wonderful homemade soup - no charge - on a day that was particularly difficult for us. When our stay had to end because of a prior booking, Stuart introduced us to a neighbouring motel and helped arrange a transfer and good rates.

We stayed in the Kiwi Cottage. We had our own spa and garden with patio and patio heater. What more could we ask! The accommodation was very large and spotlessly clean. The accommodation we had would be ideal for anyone disabled. It was totally set up for wheelchair access including the bathroom facilities. The hosts were extremely helpful arranging white water rafting for us as soon as we got there and prior to us even leaving the UK Kristen arranged for our Hangi night. Whilst we were there Kristin and Stuart were hoping to get their Qualmark. I hope they achieved it - it is certainly worth a good rating.

The rooms at East West are huge and really are apartment style accomodations with added breakfast. The hosts Kristin and Stuart are great. They have a geothermal heated pool on site if you want to enjoy the relaxing waters and were very helpful in getting me booked into one of the local spas (although the spa overbooked and I ended up not getting a treatment just a soak which I highly recommend no matter what). I stayed in the West Wing and the room consisted of a kitchenette, TV, dining area, large bed and small bed. One evening Stuart cooked me dinner at no additional cost and we enjoyed a a very tasty meal with some great NZ wine. I felt like I was staying with an Aunt and Uncle who were keen to look out for me and happy to chat. The political elections were going on at the time and Kristin was actually running for office so I learned a lot about that. The location is close enough to walk to town but on a quiet street. I got some good shopping tips and although Rotorua is quite touristy there are some nice local shops to find as well. This would be a great place for couples or families to visit. FYI They do have a dog on site. I highly recommend this as a B&B accomodation.
