We celebrated my partners birthday dinner here. The place was empty and cold. The food was good but not great, not worth the cost. The staff was minimal, and we had to open our own bottle of champagne because the waitress didn't know how. There is a dog that walks around the restaurant and lays on the chairs. If you don't mind all of the above, go in the evening, the view was nicer in the dark.

Stunning Views from high up looking out across Rotorua, great atmosphere, amazing food and service with a smile. Well worth the money.

If you're in Rotorua this is a great destination because it gives you a 360 degree perspective of one of New Zealand's greatest treasures, our very own "Lake District". On a fine day there's no way you couldn't have your spirit lifted by being up high above Lake Rotorua and the surrounding ranges.
If you do decide to visit the café as we did, the initial impression is great - the interior has character to go with the incredible view. What happens next may be a disappointment as it was for us. I think maybe this venue hasn't quite decided what it is - café or restaurant (it calls itself a restaurant). It boasts a large and attractive room for hosting wedding parties and the like but the food and service we received was very below par for anything you could receive for the same price in the CBD or for that matter almost anywhere in NZ. It was also disappointing that at no point did they even ask - "was everything ok" - to my mind every café in NZ should ask "was everything outstanding?" but maybe that's just me.
My overall impression is - amazing potential but missing some basic essential standards which a large percentage of domestic and foreign visitors will expect.

Went up for dinner just for the view at almost right at the peak of Rotorua. Unfortunately a rainy day and all fog up, a testament to its height. No view and no the restaurant fault. Food is decent and reasonable price. A nice bar wt a good choices of wines. Nothing fancy, food wise. Go there for the daytime cafe or night time dining if need a great view of Rotorua.

Our group had soup & beef as main entree, food was alright. Service was quite slow (possibly because we came in a huge group) but the view makes up for it. Toilets could be improved.
