“Comfortable, apart from the street noise”
Reviewed 28 December 2011

I have stayed here a number of times for work trips to New Plymouth.

The rooms are well laid out, clean, comfortable with good facilities. There is Sky TV.

There are good breakfast options available (cooked, continental, porridge etc.) although they are a little on the high side in terms of price.

Located a couple of blocks from the waterfront, and down the road from a number of supermarkets, and takeaways as well as a few nice restaurants nearby.

Overall good "business" accommodation, although I am not sure I would recommend it for a romantic weekend away of a tourist's trip to Taranaki.

I stayed in June and in September during the RWC period.

We had not been to New Plymouth for quite some time and were recommended to stay at Brougham Heights. Good choice and a special thanks to Deborah and Mo for their first rate hospitality. The rooms were very well presented and the staff should be congratulated on their presentation.....well done ladies.
The one draw back was the Taranaki weather and now we can see why they have great cows and plenty of milk in this region. We did not see the mountain for the whole 6 days that we were there so some of the ancient myths about the mountain may seem true.

Brougham Heights is very well located close by the shopping centre and the great walks along the water front are recommended. We will return.

This is quite a nice motel.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was reasonably spacious. It had a nice tv and dvd player downstairs but the tv upstairs was old and tiny.
The water pressure in the shower was terrible (and that's coming from someone who has put up with water restrictions etc in Sydney)
Power in the room is controlled by the usual key in the slot. Normally that is fine because it turns off major appliance like tv, air conditioning etc. But this one turns off everything including the bedside clock!!!
My other gripe is charging for internet usage by the hour. This nearly made me choose somewhere else to stay.
I will say the main reason we stayed here was it's proximity to two excellent restaurants across the street. (Andre's and Table)

Thank you for reviewing Brougham Heights. Your comments are always welcome as sometimes we are not aware of things that guests notice. We were not aware there was a problem with the water pressure as this is the first comment we have received about this. I will get this looked into.
We realise the upstairs TV is only a 14" and this will be changed over the next few months, we need to upgrade our ariel to allow us to upgrade the size of the TV's.
Sorry about the alarm clock, the power saving keytags were installed long after the property was built so we were limited as to what we could control with them, however your comment is valid and we will look into a solution.

Our party of three stayed in a one bedroom executive room for two nights. The motel is well located for the amenities of New Plymouth, particularly the restaurants. Whilst there we had occasion to seek advice from the manager on several matters, including a car problem. he was most helpful and accommodating, when it looked as if we needed a late check out and luggage storage. He also recommended good restaurants. The Toyota main dealership in New Plymouth were amazing incidentally.
Our room was large, modern and well equipped. However, the design was strange for a room this size, with the single bed under the staircase and somewhat claustrophobic.

We stayed at Brougham Heights for 1 night in December in a 2-bedroom unit. The unit was perfect for our requirements, plenty of space and the double glazed windows kept all the street noise out – best nights sleep for ages. Close to the shopping, waterfront and more importantly good cafés, this will be our future stop-off point when in New Plymouth.

We booked 2 one bedroom apartments over the Xmas period and we would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone. The family that run the business were friendly and helpful. (they even left evidence that santa had visited on xmas morning-which delighted our children!) The rooms are very clean, well maintained, and within walking distance to the city, walkway and park.
