“Stunning views and delicious rich food”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

We went to Okururu Vineyard for a family dinner. We spent most of the evening on the gorgeous balcony overlooking the sunset over the vines, rolling hills, the Sugarloaf Islands and the ocean. It was just stunning. The food and wine were delicious, very rich. We had entrees and mains and definitely couldn't fit dessert. It is pricy, but for large servings and great flavours. The service was exceptional. However the interior decor was very offputting, after much discussion we decided it reminded us of a 90s motel. Needs an upgrade!

“exceeded expectations”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

we had a party of 3 and spent a very nice wednesday night at Okurukuru, it was reasonably busy for a wednesday but the service was very good, and views and sunset just magic.
This place looks very expensive but it is very reasonable with mains under $30.00 , we had a platter to share , very nice followed by fish and chips and a curry, and a steak , we could not fault any of it , and wine was reasonable for a Clearview chardonay.
If you are thinking it is another overpriced restaurant think again , give it a go we will be back

“Great food at a beautiful venue.”
Reviewed 24 January 2014 via mobile

We had our yearly anniversary dinner here again this year, although a little windy, the weather was as usual beautiful.
The menu has changed and it was a huge improvement as it had been the same for what seemed like years. We chose the degustation menu and the food was absolutely delicious, the flavours were amazing. The service was spot on and staff very friendly and helpful.

“Impromptu dinner out with the missus …. excellent!”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

Wednesday evening and both children are away until 9pm. So I suggest a hot date to the wife, but unsure of where to go. She suggests Okurukuru. It's less than a five minute drive from home - and the (relatively) new Chef, Danger, is a real hit with the locals.

The place is packed for a Wednesday - a lot of walk-ins, as well as bookings. We are, nevertheless, promptly seated and quickly order. We also explain that we can see that the place is busy, but are we able to be in and out within an hour? The waiter checks with Danger and gives us the okay.

The food arrives quickly. We both have mains - pork for the missus and a lamb rack for me. Both excellent! The wine, a Syrah and a Merlot are a bit light and young - I wouldn't choose them again. The desserts make up for it. Tiramisu and an apple brulee. Superb!

Overall a great night. Short and sweet, but parents have to take the opportunities, however brief, when they present themselves. We will do this again….

“Great service and lovely meal”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

Attended as part of a group function, and the staff were very efficient and helpful in serving food and drinks all evening at very timely intervals. Did not wait too long at all, which is difficult for such a number being served at once, And the food was great and a fabulous balmy warm evening to enjoy the views of both the sea and the mountain.
