This park is incredibly beautiful and has so many different elements and sights to see. We just stopped for a quick look and ended up in the tea rooms a couple hours later! Definitely a must do in Taranaki

Every time I go to New Plymouth I visit this Park. I have never been to a sporting event here but the grass terraces form a natural ampitheatre. The attraction for me however is the walks through the bush. This time I visited early to keep away from the noise of the children enjoying themselves. I wanted solitude to video the sound of the birds, the fountain and waterfall. These last two attractions are activated by pushing a button nearby. As usual I visited their greenhouses but was a bit disappointed that some areas where closed off for the winter. The waterfall is near the lagoon where you can purchase food or take a row on the water. A further walk takes you up to the Bowl of Brooklands and the zoo or alternatively you can enter from this end and walk down

This is a great place to go to and enjoy a great day. You can go rowing on the lake, walk along the footpaths amongst the trees. Have a wonderful lunch. Go to the children's playground , Then walk up to the zoo what more could you want.
If you are lucky enough to be there in December you can enjoy the Festival of Lights.

This miniature forest in the centre of the town is ideally arranged to provide either gentle or vigorous exercise in healthy surroundings, given the sloping terrain and all weather paths. There are also interesting horticultural displays and identification labels on at least some of the trees.
