We discovered The Laughing Buddha while on a short trip to New Plymouth. On climbing the stairs we weren't sure what to expect, the decor is slightly rustic but pretty cute nonetheless. We had read a couple of mixed reviews about the food so were slightly apprehensive, but needn't have been. It was a quiet Sunday night, and as such there was only one waiter looking after the whole restaurant, at times he had five or six tables to look after by himself, but no-one ever had to wait for their water glass to be filled and he took a second drink order before we had even finished the first.
The menu is interesting with plenty to choose from, and my wife and I shared spring rolls and pork buns for starters, and then I had Szechuan pork hock, and my wife had a lamb and black pepper stew, with plain steamed rice. All absolutely delicious.
Altogether the food and service were very impressive, and I would recommend this restaurant to anybody!
